I tried a 3 day Virgin Coconut Oil Detox against Candida

Last weekend I did a 3 day virgin coconut oil detox beginning Friday and ending Monday. I followed the recipe from the book Coconut Cures by Bruce Fife. Basically, I chose not to eat any food and just stick to 2 tablespoons of virgin coconut oil (VCO) every 2 hours beginning 8am until you consume up to 10 tablespoons in a day. I supplement this with fresh lemonade with sea salt, some coconut meat, and a lot of plain yoghurt. I tried mixing the VCO with the lemon juice, but I found that I preferred drinking the VCO straight from a spoon.

My objective. I recently diagnosed myself with jock itch. Since jock itch is yeast induced, I figured I needed to do a candida cleanse. Looking in the natural health websites showed that candida cures took several months to accomplish. I tried using garlic under the soles of my feet and that gave me relief for 1 day. But I read that a 3 to 7 day VCO detox can wipe out candida easily by starving it and killing it at the same time!

My results? The 1st day of my detox I found the urge to release my bowels at least 4 times that day. In my 2nd day, with food relatively empty, I unloaded what looked like jets of white “smokey” clouds. Were they the yeast I so wanted to get rid off? My 3rd day brought me hunger and some heart pain. I decided to continue taking my chlorella and spirulina supplements to give me some nutrition. But by the end of monday I felt uneasy about the heart pain I decided to eat a late dinner before going to bed. By wednesday, the heart pain was gone.

Did the VCO detox kill the yeast that caused the jock itch? During the 3 days I was on VCO detox there was no jock itch, no itch at all. By thursday I felt some itch. But the itch went away Friday and no itch today Saturday.

I will think about scheduling a 2nd VCO detox next week just to make sure the my yeast population is checked.

Do I think VCO detox is effective against candida? Absolutely. Try it.

hey, i totally agree with you!! Coconut oil works!! i have been battling with severe eczema for over a year now. I did the full detox, bowel, liver everything…but i got to about my 10th liver flush and felt like i wasnt really getting any better…none the less i persisted as i know that symptoms sometimes get worse before they get better. However, it was taking soo long that i began to think that maybe there was somethin else i needed to do but i didnt know what. I got to 17 liver flushes and no stones and i knew definatley then that there was another piece to the puzzle that i must have been missing. i had also been having digestion problems for months and i thought that with all the cleansing that it would eventually fix itself, but it didnt…

then i read on curezone that a lady substituted coconut oil for olive oil while liver flushing and got out lots of candida. So i tried it and the result was amazing! that was last weekend. This weekend im doing a 3 day VCO detox..and my eczema is disappearing before my eyes!. I am soo happy that i have finally found the missing puzzle piece. I have tried sooo hard for soo long i can hardly believe that its finally over. goodbye to feeling and living like a sick person and hello to the freedom of good health that i knew once before!. Im so glad to have my life back! I’m soo grateful for people like you who have taken the time to post your experiences and knowledge. I dont know you, but i have read through your site many many times, and i couldnt have done it without you! thanks you from the bottom of my heart. ;)

thanks for all your advice! i’ve suffered from eczema since as long as i can remember, and only recently did i realize it’s related to my poor digestive system (bowel movement every 2 or 3 days, difficulty sweating). i’m now on the 3rd day of my first VCO detox, and though my skin is still itchy, it’s been molting, which is a good thing. i just need to buy a skin brush today.

i’ve been eating nestle creamy yogurt (unflavored, unsweetened) along with the VCO, but i’ve been trying hard to find a fresh/live yogurt vendor here in manila. tried calling the number for Dr. Juice but I was told i have the wrong number. is Dr. Juice still open? if so, do you have their contact info or address?

    Hi there,

Any recommendations on where to buy virgin coconut oil? Any companies that will ship worldwide?

  5. Peter

@john iherb.com is great. they ship worldwide & have great prices on nutiva extra virgin coconut oil, which also comes in a raw version in glass for just $5 more for the 54oz size (almost 1/2 gallon / 1.6 liters.)

I love Virgin Coconut Oil. When I’m not feeling well I take it and it always makes me feel better. I also like the 100% Pure Coconut Water. I have drank it when I had a fever and it took my fever away fast.

I would like to try the coconut oil detox, however, I have a few questions.

    1. How much of the unsweetened yogurt are you supposed to eat? A cup (about 250g) a day? Or is that too much/too little? Is Greek yogurt (ie Fage) better for you probiotics-wise than “normal” yogurt (ie Dannon)?
    2. Doesn’t the naturally occurring sugar in the yogurt (according to my Dannon plain yogurt, it contains 12g sugar per cup) feed the candida and therefore ruin the intent of the detox?
    3. Would using kimchi rather than yogurt be acceptable? It seems like kimchi would be better because it contains less sugar and more vitamins than yogurt, while still containing probiotics. At the same time, yogurt is a complete protein whereas kimchi isn’t, so in that sense yogurt might be better, although for a detox of only 3 days, having an incomplete protein isn’t that big of a deal.

The ‘cloudy’ stuff is the Candida! (www.curemanual.com/detox…/virgin-coconut-oil-detox/)

    Have you attempted it again?
