Planned Road Trip to Banaue, Sagada, Pagudpud, Vigan

April 3, 2011 by Good Samaritan

This coming Thursday morning we will be off on a 10 day road trip going up North of Luzon. We will be using my wife’s Toyota Fortuner to hopefully allow us to drive in comfort and enjoy the trip. I will be driving long stretches, so I’ll be needing a lot of good raw beef, marrow and maybe raw eggs and coconuts to keep me alert. Cooked food makes me sleepy.

First in our planned tour is Banaue Rice Terraces. Then on to Sagada to the new Cervantes road that exits at Ilocos Sur. Then up to Pagudpud beaches. Then on the way back to Vigan. We will of course have stop overs and market visits and picture taking along the way and tasting and sampling. Maybe we will find ants eggs in the markets.

I’ll be bringing all different types of cell phone sim cards and unlimited internet on all the time 3G on my android smart phone. I’ll still be able to keep in touch with the office and probably do some minor network administrations they need me for. Hopefully no major network disaster happens where I may be needed. But I have everything in this trip. The freedom of cellular internet, smart phones, portable hard drives and netbooks. Plus a couple of digital cameras to document the trip. I’ll probably blogging too.

Initially, we had stricken off the Pagudpud beach venue because there was a nasty oil spill last year whole of 2010, but it seems they had contained the spill and are proceeding to remove the ship. Then we considered Hundred Islands, but saw the bureau of Fisheries issue a red tide warning on Bolinao which is the next town. Red tide means the sea food is unfit for human consumption and even the waters may be unfit for swimming.

There are lots and lots of beaches in the Philippines, who cares if those 2 places are not available this week? I said to my wife that the entire stretch of la union is beach beach beach, she says no thanks, she only wants white beaches.

Wish us luck on our trip!

Glutathione Whitening Pills: Beauty over Brains?

April 3, 2011 by Good Samaritan

First hand interview with a happy glutathione whitening pills user.  Ms. A, 22 years old says she owes her now light, fair complexion to glutathione whitening pills.  She says she took 4 capsules 2x a day and in 6 months her skin had whitened.  Her formerly dark areas have whitened.

The only drawback she says is that the glutathione whitening pills seems to have made her forgetful.  It’s harder for Ms. A. to take her college examinations, it seems the glutathione has that side effect.  But Ms. A. says it is a small price to pay as she considers her beauty to be more important than her brains.

So what is it in glutathione that made her skin whiten and lessen her brains a bit?

I have heard rumors that the side effect of overdosing glutathione is skin lightening.

Personally, I don’t indulge in such things as supplements.  But different strokes for different folks.  Ms. A. is quite happy with her glutathione experience.

Brown Skinned Filipinos Don’t get Sun Burns?

March 24, 2011 by Good Samaritan

My sun burn started peeling away a few days ago. It was interesting for me to take a few pictures and a video to see how large a piece I can get from my thigh. My wife is grossed out but my kids thought it was interesting.

My wife and kids don’t get sun burns and don’t peel. They have their Ilocano blood in them. Somehow they are resistant to sun burns. Long enough under the sun and they just get a little darker. But me with my chinese and caucasian ancestors I just get burned immediately.

Apparently, a lot of people in youtube posted their sun burn peeling videos. So a good number of people think sun burn peeling is special in some way.

Earthing Grounding While Sleeping Success Experiments with Myself and My Son

March 22, 2011 by Good Samaritan

Last weekend beginning Friday night I made sure I slept with just the mattress on the floor of 1 story house… grounded. I slept very very well. In fact I wanted more sleep Saturday morning and Sunday morning. Just in time for healing maybe a small bone crack in my stubbed right toe. It felt like deep healing resting sleep. I felt so amazingly rested I tested this same grounding experiment with my 9 year old boy.

My 9 year old boy is small. He’s the first born, usually the first borns are smaller. My 7 year old boy is already heftier than my first born. As a coincidence, with our sleeping arrangements, our 2 younger children sleep in the mattress on the floor, while our eldest child sleeps on the elevated bed. Maybe our first born being unfortunate to always sleep on the elevated bed is not grounded and has so for years. Is that what is keeping him from growing faster and heftier?

Last night we started the grounding experiment. I had my boy sleep on the mattress on the floor for a change. Just before falling asleep he said that mattress made him feel sleepier than usual. And when he woke up he told me he slept really well. Ha ha. Maybe I was suggestive and my boy lapped it up.

The real key is consistency. So let’s see as the weeks go on if sleeping grounded will make a big difference in my boy’s health.

If you have pain or have health problems, grounding really works while at work or at sleep. Every little bit helps when you are sick and all those little bits add up. I think grounding is a big deal. That’s why I encourage children to walk around barefoot. I even remember my teacher Barefoot Herbalist MH give a lesson that some really sick people were told by their healer to dig a hole in the ground and sleep in it.

Laiya Batangas: Fishing Dorado with the Balacbacan Fishermen

March 13, 2011 by Good Samaritan

Friday afternoon I was driving south towards Candelaria Quezon where I was scheduled to stay overnight with the great hands on healer Vander Gaditano. I get messages on my cell phone regarding the tragedy of the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear power plant problems of Japan. It’s not stopping me from my drive. Candelaria is far enough from the beach of Laiya, Batangas and besides, the location of Laiya waters is it is shielded by the entire massive Luzon island any tsunami from Japan will never reach this place.

I called my contact Edith and reserved a fishing boat. Cost is 2,000 pesos and 250 pesos per fishing rod, then I had to buy bait worth 350 pesos. Expensive because the squid we got were special sweet squid. Tasted the squid raw and it was sweet. My boatmen / fishermen were 47 year old Dionisio and his 23 year old son Melvin.

The technique in fishing dorado is to use squid or fish as bait. Around 6 inches long each. Then you cast the fishing line and the boat goes around in circles on each marked buoy. We go around several marked buoys and eventually wind up with 5 dorados and 1 batalay fish.

About 1 hour into the boat ride I got sea sick, open blue water just endlessly goes up and down. I had to slump in the boat and wait for more than 30 minutes to regain my sea legs. I did recover and went on to enjoy the morning. We left at 6am and came back 12 noon. Their expectation was after lunch go back in the water. No, half a day is alright with me.

We cooked 2 dorado’s over charcoal. Of course I had mine rare. Totally raw is not recommended with dorado as the flesh sticks real hard on the bones. Just heating it enough makes the flesh fall off the bone.

Video of Dorado Fishing in Laiya Batangas taken last year February 28, 2010

The big one that got away

The last and supposedly 7th fish was the one that bit my fishing line. I first tried reeling it in but found that the reel would not budge. Young Melvin saw my puzzled fishing amateur newbie “I don’t know what to do when this happens” and he immediately took over my rod, oh there was an adjustment switch you flip on the rod. He had a big smile on his face. This was a challenge from the regular 6 fish we already caught. This was a big one. Melvin tired and his father Dionisio took over. He too had a big smile on his face. This fish was going to big. Unlike the other fish that jumped out of the water, this one just stayed sunk. Melvin was steering the boat towards the big 4 kilo dorado and was ready to hook it. Then the fish swam out again suddenly, but this time it got away! The fishing line had snapped. Oh shucks! So close. If we had hauled that big boy in, that would have made my day.

From then on I promised to buy a 4 kilo dorado in the wet market soon just so I can taste what a 4 kilo dorado tastes like. Dorado is good when cooked in soup sinigang style. The skin softens and you can eat it fatty. If you heat it on charcoal, the skin is burned and the fat dissipates.

To fill my ice chest I bought some squid and some other fish and went home Saturday. For you foreigners, I do not practice catch and release fishing. I fish to eat.

The next time I said to Edith and Dionisio, I want to go net fishing with the fishermen. Commission a boat, same time 6am to 12noon but instead of fishing rods, we go net fishing and get several kilos of fish. I will just load up enough fish in my ice chest that fits in my car and they can sell the rest of their fish haul in the market. Initially, Melvin thought I was nuts, who would want to pay to fish with fishermen using nets? I explained that city slickers like me just want to experience what they experience and we will gladly pay for it.

Women’s Day Nothing. Record Infertilities. Celebrating The Poisoning of Women Through Birth Control.

March 9, 2011 by Good Samaritan

Ho hum, i heard it is women’s day, was it today or yesterday? Heard over in Congress they were discussing the forced poisoning of even more women through contraceptive drugs via pills, patches, injectables, IUDs via public funding and forcing the entire nation to be accomplices in the even more mass drugging of women nationwide. And this dear friends is how the foreign powers that be make us celebrate their imperialist women’s day. Remember, it is US vs THEM. They wish to drug our women. They wish to poison our women. They wish to neuter our women. They will brainwash you and your ilk to harm, injure, maim, kill your own women in the name of “choice”, in the name of “contraceptive rights”… in the DOUBLESPEAK language (UN)Reproductive Health.
