Raw Paleo Diet Meal Presentations by Inger of Germany

May 23, 2010 by Good Samaritan

I have absolutely zero presentation with my raw meat meals. I seem to have gone back in time and gone caveman. At the worst I’m just biting off meat from a chunk, at best it’s cut sashimi style and eaten with chopsticks, well yeah I like my eggs sipped from a hole in the shell because I don’t have to wash any dishes. But when it comes to enticing family members to eat a raw paleo diet, it seems presentation is important and Inger blazes a trail of pictures for the squeamish to try raw meat in their daily diet.

This is beef liver, and tartar. For the tartar I used minced beef, a little bit olive oil (you can leave that out) one tsp onion chopped, caper (kapern), fresh ground black pepper, Dijon mustard (raw) 1 tbsp. and fresh parsley. Just mix all together and enjoy!

This was delicious, Buffalo (the smaller piece) and entrecote(ribeye?) from grassfed beef. Yum.

This is my all raw pemmican, made with marrow. I love this, it is my favorite meal.

Grassfed beef, sliced, with grassfed marrow-pieces, and a nettle. Grassfed beef and marrow tastes like HWC to me..

Linden leaves (tastes very mild and so delicious!), and one piece of aged liver, dried, ground up heart with coconut oil.

Tartar from minced meat and minced halibut 50%/50%. I mixed in a tiny bit chopped onions, a bit more fresh coriander (that gives a really nice taste!) some fresh limejuice and very little seasalt.
On the top “caviar” from wild salmon. The white topping is creme fraiche.. hard to get raw. But you can leave it, for sure.

Carpaccio from halibut, with “caviar” and fresh dill and lemon.

Allowing our son to eat partially cooked meats

May 22, 2010 by Good Samaritan

It’s been 2 days since the last dose of the antibiotic Flagyl. Today we allowed some partially cooked meat to our 8 year old boy who if you remember has recovered from intussusception. He did not have surgery. He instead got well by a “miracle” which was medically verified by x-ray, ultrasound and blood tests. It is the injured intestines that we are wary about and this is why we have to feed him easy to digest foods. Mono meals.

This lunch time I popped into the oven some fatty beef cuts. He had some, not a lot. This evening he will be having some seared salmon in some “teriyaki” home made from scratch sauce. The rest of his meals for the day are egg yolks and coconut juice and coconut meat.

He just pooped a good solid smooth brown poop. No constipation. Took a bath. And now he just told me it’s eating time so we have to sear his salmon.

Update: He ate quite a bit this evening. I am satisfied with his appetite.

Losing weight should not be done by starving yourself and enduring Malnutrition

May 18, 2010 by Good Samaritan

We as humans should collectively learn.  Funny, it never fails, each new generation of overweight people will think along the same wrong lines of thought at first: that eating fat will make you fat and that losing weight or dieting must involve eating less food, even skipping meals.

The newly fat in their 20s or 30s need to understand that becoming fat is mostly a function of the amount of starchy carbohydrates you eat.  So wheat based processed food, rice and other grains are the biggest culprits.  Your body may have metabolized that much carbs in its younger years, but not anymore.  Your aging body  just packs on the fat while consuming that much starchy carbs.

Always avoid malnutrition.  Malnutrition is one of the big root causes of many diseases and illnesses.  You do not want to be malnourished.  You will be sick, guaranteed.

To lose extra weight, to look good, to be sexy, to feel great is a function of health.  You must eat a diet that makes you healthy.  That’s all there is to it.  The best diet out there is the Paleo Diet and even better, the Raw Paleo Diet.  This is the evolutionary approved diet.  And it just works.

Eat fatty animal food, eat vegetables, some fruit, feel full and satisfied all the time and …. ta daaahhhh…. a sexy, healthy, beautiful you.

To give you an idea of how much food I’m talking about, in a day I could eat: 2 raw duck eggs, 600 grams of raw meat (blue marlin / beef / horse), some coconut / watermelon / guava / durian — I’m a computer geek at 1.65 meters and 57 kg.

Loose Bowel Movement due to Instant Noodles

May 9, 2010 by Good Samaritan

This evening our 8 year old boy was complaining he had loose bowel movement, that his tummy was in pain, the whole thing.  Time to investigate the probably cause.  What did you and your siblings have for lunch?  I know I dropped them off at their cousins’ house.  All they could say was they had rice and “soup”.

I had to call up their cousins’ house, ask the maid.  So what did my kids have for lunch at their place?  Maid said “mami”, “instant mami”, what brand? “Lu**y M*.”

What?  My children ate total junk food?  Holy crap!  Crap indeed!  No wonder our 8 year old boy was crapping like crazy, his tummy doesn’t like that stuff.  His tummy is not familiar with that junk.

First aid.  Wife gets 2 small latundan bananas to solidify the poops and some water melon for hydration.

I was preparing the barefoot dewormer in case there was some poisoning but it seems after finding out the culprit, there is no need for the dewormer.

Lesson learned is not to trust kids’ meals like that.  “Instant mami noodles” is irresponsible junk food which is unfit for our children’s consumption.

Explanation: our 8 year old boy’s intestines recognized the “instant mami noodles” as junk and proceeded to crap it out pronto.

Live Small Raw Squid for Lunch

May 9, 2010 by Good Samaritan

I was lucky to find some live small raw squid in the Malabon City wet market. I was on my usual trip to buy horse meat then checked out their sea food section. The lady said they had these live and fresh items due to boat men parking on their dock. You can identify if the squid is still alive if the colors on its skin are still changing / rippling. In fishing towns, people have the notion that they should only buy live shellfish, live crabs, live squid… they are not fresh when dead.

The live squid was an enticing offer. I popped one in my mouth and it tasted great. So I bought what was there, just 1.1 kilos left. Got it for 280 pesos. Not cheap.

At home, preparation was:

  • Wash with water.
  • Get a dipping bowl for real natural vinegar.
  • Dip squid a few seconds just to “clean” it due to handling in the market.
  • Eat.
  • Show your nice black tongue.
  • My 5 year old girl found this delicious and fun with me.

I must have eaten around 400 grams of squid until I was full.  Just like the other meats I have.  Pretty good.  If I chance upon live squid again, I will buy it.  This method of eating by dipping in vinegar is what the market lady suggested.

Diabetic? Stop eating RICE, WHEAT, Sweet Fruit and Sweet Things… Stop All Artificial Sweeteners

April 29, 2010 by Good Samaritan

Are you diabetic?  Even borderline diabetic?  Did you notice that on the days you don’t eat rice and wheat your blood sugar level is stable?  What does this tell you?  Rice is not for you!  Stop eating it now and forever.  Just because you are Filipino does not mean you have to eat rice.  I’m a Filipino and I don’t eat rice.  And as a parent I’m weaning my children from eating rice.  Rice and most other high carb foods can be viewed as junk food.

It is the sugar highs, the hyper glycemic times that cause disease, it is those hyper glycemic times that cause tooth decay.  Notice how many Filipino children have tooth decay.  And into their 20s, Filipinos have lost some teeth due to decay.  Brisk business for dentists, but it does not have to be this way.

Look at a Filipino party full of carbohydrate insanity:

  • pancit, noodles, pasta, spaghetti, lasagna, macaroni
  • bread, cake
  • ice cream
  • kakanins from puto, kutchinta, sapin sapin
  • rice
  • halo halo, leche flan
  • corn
  • the sweetest fruits… yellow mangoes are in season…
  • washed down with softdrinks
  • and brown and white sugar for “taste”
  • artificial sweeteners for those who want less sugar (insanity with chemicals)

Oh it would be normal for one to taste them all.  I know I used to do this insanity.

The bottom line for diabetics is all of this is harmful for your health and you know it, you can measure it… so stop eating it… for the rest of your life!

The important foods are raw meat, raw fat (rare will do for beginners) and for some who like vegetables you can juice vegetables or cook vegetables… but not nightshades.

Raw fat… fat will be your “RICE”.  My kids know this when they have rare steaks.

Raw fat is hydrating, lubricating, cleansing, steady energy giving… healing.

Whatever medical BS you hear about fat causing heart disease is a bunch of B.S. and has no place in scientific discussion.  They just want to sell you cholesterol lowering drugs!  Mega multi-billion dollar industry.

And without all the carb junk you will be sexy, fit and healthy.  Why?  This is the way humans are.  We are supposed to look good and trim.

Funny when in a reunion of some old class mates see me and say “You’re too thin!!!”  I just keep to myself… “Compared to who?  You?”  enter a whole troop of obese people.  FYI, I didn’t invent these BMI scales, I have a BMI of 21, smack in the middle of NORMAL.  So this means THEIR perception of NORMAL has been corrupted.

The only possible reason you would want to eat a lot of carbs is if you are a competitive athlete or a full time laborer.  Are you?

Organic Eggs: Fertilized and Natural Matters Absolutely

April 23, 2010 by Good Samaritan

In our household we do not patronize chicken eggs. Our second son is allergic to all forms of chicken, including chicken eggs whether organic or fertilized, as long as it is chicken. This blog post is about DUCK EGGS.

We have 3 sources of duck eggs from NOT GOOD to GOOD to SUPERIOR. These taste reviews are of RAW DUCK EGGS.

– Marikina Wet Market: They call their fresh raw duck eggs “special”, they usually sell live balut duck eggs — 17 day old chicks in the shell. Their fresh raw duck eggs do not taste fresh, they taste slimy, and the taste of the yolk is questionable. The yolk color is light yellow.

– Calamba Laguna – Itlog ni Kuya: They say their ducks are peking ducks and they say their ducks are fed all natural. Whatever that is. The egg yolk color is deeper yellow orange. The egg white does not taste slimy. The egg yolk tastes good.

– Palawan – independent duck herder: Palawan is the last frontier of nature, virgin forests and cleanliness guarded by dozens of environmentalist NGOs. These ducks are led around during the day to graze on the mountains and rivers. The eggs are all obviously naturally laid, with males fertilizing females. The egg white is clear and delicious. The yolk is orange. The taste of the entire egg with yolk and white is absolutely top notch pure heavenly.

If nutrition follows taste, then probably the Palawan duck eggs also win in the nutrition game. Taste is important. The bad tasting eggs I just let the maids cook them in their dishes, you modify the bad taste with condiments. But with the most superior Palawan duck eggs… you absolutely do not want to cook them. In fact I just fed my 5 year old girl this breakfast and she refused the sunny side up eggs and asked for a RAW DUCK EGG instead.

If you want to eat raw animal foods, you need to get top notch quality. Follow your taste buds.
