Corn Danger Warning: French Study Shows 3 Monsanto GM Corns clearly underlines adverse impacts on kidneys and liver, the dietary detoxifying organs

January 13, 2010 by Good Samaritan

This public French study should let farmers and consumers see the light that these Monsanto GM corn varieties (GM) maize (NK 603, MON 810, MON 863) are DAMAGING to mice in a 90 day study.

According to the study’s author, the company’s own data “clearly underlines adverse impacts on kidneys and liver, the dietary detoxifying organs, as well as different levels of damages to heart, adrenal glands, spleen and haematopoietic system.”

from http://www.change.org/actions/view/get_organ-damaging_monsanto_corn_off_the_market

These genetically modified maize freaks of Monsanto most probably are dangerous to mammalian health, including livestock and humans the study concludes.

The Abstract:

We present for the first time a comparative analysis of blood and organ system data from trials with rats fed three main commercialized genetically modified (GM) maize (NK 603, MON 810, MON 863), which are present in food and feed in the world. NK 603 has been modified to be tolerant to the broad spectrum herbicide Roundup and thus contains residues of this formulation. MON 810 and MON 863 are engineered to synthesize two different Bt toxins used as insecticides. Approximately 60 different biochemical parameters were classified per organ and measured in serum and urine after 5 and 14 weeks of feeding. GM maize-fed rats were compared first to their respective isogenic or parental non-GM equivalent control groups. This was followed by comparison to six reference groups, which had consumed various other non-GM maize varieties. We applied nonparametric methods, including multiple pairwise comparisons with a False Discovery Rate approach. Principal Component Analysis allowed the investigation of scattering of different factors (sex, weeks of feeding, diet, dose and group). Our analysis clearly reveals for the 3 GMOs new side effects linked with GM maize consumption, which were sex- and often dose-dependent. Effects were mostly associated with the kidney and liver, the dietary detoxifying organs, although different between the 3 GMOs. Other effects were also noticed in the heart, adrenal glands, spleen and haematopoietic system. We conclude that these data highlight signs of hepatorenal toxicity, possibly due to the new pesticides specific to each GM corn. In addition, unintended direct or indirect metabolic consequences of the genetic modification cannot be excluded.

Here is the full conclusion and I quote:

Patho-physiological profiles are unique for each GM crop/food, underlining the necessity for a case-by-case evaluation of their safety, as is largely admitted and agreed by regulators. It is not possible to make comments concerning any general, similar subchronic toxic effect for all GM foods. However, in the three GM maize varieties that formed the basis of this investigation, new side effects linked to the consumption of these cereals were revealed, which were sex- and often dose-dependent. Effects were mostly concentrated in kidney and liver function, the two major diet detoxification organs, but in detail differed with each GM type. In addition, some effects on heart, adrenal, spleen and blood cells were also frequently noted. As there normally exists sex differences in liver and kidney metabolism, the highly statistically significant disturbances in the function of these organs, seen between male and female rats, cannot be dismissed as biologically insignificant as has been proposed by others [4]. We therefore conclude that our data strongly suggests that these GM maize varieties induce a state of hepatorenal toxicity. This can be due to the new pesticides (herbicide or insecticide) present specifically in each type of GM maize, although unintended metabolic effects due to the mutagenic properties of the GM transformation process cannot be excluded [42]. All three GM maize varieties contain a distinctly different pesticide residue associated with their particular GM event (glyphosate and AMPA in NK 603, modified Cry1Ab in MON 810, modified Cry3Bb1 in MON 863). These substances have never before been an integral part of the human or animal diet and therefore their health consequences for those who consume them, especially over long time periods are currently unknown. Furthermore, any side effect linked to the GM event will be unique in each case as the site of transgene insertion and the spectrum of genome wide mutations will differ between the three modified maize types. In conclusion, our data presented here strongly recommend that additional long-term (up to 2 years) animal feeding studies be performed in at least three species, preferably also multi-generational, to provide true scientifically valid data on the acute and chronic toxic effects of GM crops, feed and foods. Our analysis highlights that the kidneys and liver as particularly important on which to focus such research as there was a clear negative impact on the function of these organs in rats consuming GM maize varieties for just 90 days.

Money lenders should cease and desist lending to farmers growing these dangerous GM corns as there is a risk of defaults when these future crops are boycotted.

Calling all livestock growers who consume these corns, these corns may be damaging your livestock. Maybe the livestock epidemics and weaknesses are caused by BAD FOOD. This French study suggests (GM) maize (NK 603, MON 810, MON 863) are harmful to mammals in many many ways. It is time to SWITCH back to Non-GM feeds.

Calling on the public, ask your meat supplier if their animals are fed these (GM) maize (NK 603, MON 810, MON 863), petition them to stop using these GM corn and boycott those meat suppliers who still use these as animal feed.

Corn is in everything.

Think about it.

Corn oil

Corn Starch

Corn syrup

These are added to thousands of processed food products.

Pass this on, pass this on, pass this on.

Raw Squid: “Itlugan” / “with eggs” for dinner

January 13, 2010 by Good Samaritan

I chanced upon some super fresh raw squid in Marikina Market around 5pm last night. These squid were “itlugan” / “with eggs”, not easy to find and you really have to pick them. Pick the lumpy ones and take a peak if they have eggs. Pick the squid yourself or the market vendor will be “fair” and give you some with eggs and some with no eggs.

My announcement at dinner came with a WOW from the 2 younger kids who forgot about their cooked dinner. Good timing. They had their fill of raw squid with the raw eggs and raw fat inside. They liked tentacles too.

They aren’t into eating the ink yet so the head and the ink were moved to the refrigerator with the batch to be cooked for the kids’ lunch pack the next day.

It was mission accomplished this evening. A raw dinner for the kids.

Pineapple tasted like medicine today, was voted out of the breakfast table

January 10, 2010 by Good Samaritan

Yesterday my mother in law bought a pineapple from Rustans supermarket. The label said Dizon Farms Honey Gold Pineapple Naturally Ripened Very Sweet Export Quality. It tasted awful. Tasted like medicine.

There were 4 of us who tasted the the pineapple this breakfast:

Pic said – tastes good
Edwin said – tastes like medicine
Arlene said – tastes like medicine
Jean said – tastes like medicine

So for 3 out of 4 people in the household, this pineapple tasted like medicine. We decide to throw the pineapple out to the trash can.

Maybe this was a bad piece? A bad batch? We will get some other pineapple next time and see.

Persistent Kidney Stones Cure Testimonial on Raw Paleo Diet

January 9, 2010 by Good Samaritan

Frenchman code named Alphagruis shared his kidney stone cure experience in the raw paleo forum. It is just one of those things that happen to people while on a fully raw paleolithic diet of raw fruits, raw vegetables and raw meat.

During the period 1984-1999 I’ve repeatedly expelled kidney stones and experienced numerous episodes of nephretic colics. As shown by regular scans ( every 6-12 months) new stones formed systematically…

The stones stopped in 1999 after I had changed my diet to raw paleo in december 1998. Six months after beginning raw paleo the scans showed that no new stones had formed for the first time after 15 years…

I’m stone-free ever since.

Very impressive

from: http://www.rawpaleoforum.com/hot-topics/common-criticisms-directed-at-paleo-diet-proponents/msg24043/#msg24043

So I asked Alphagruis his entire story:

I am so very interested in this personal achievement of yours Alphagruis. Do you have a prepared story / press release / article about your kidney stone cure with raw paleo diet?

What form of raw paleo diet did you start on and are doing now and for how long?

How much raw meat, how much raw fat, which animals, which vegetables, which fruits.

Please tell….

Alphagruis responded with:

Well, Goodsamaritan, I’m afraid it’s not a personal achievement, just one of those miracles RPD is capable to achieve. I had only to acknowledge the phenomenon and the fact that we don’t really understand how or why it works, just to recognize that it works.
By the end of 1998 I was fairly desperate after so many years of terrible periodic suffering (nephretic colics typically once every year) and so I was willing to try anything once. It was instinctonutrition as developed by G-C Burger here in France.
Though I never actually followed the specific rules of instincto (eat only what smells and tastes best) I have been on RPD from december 1998 on and ever since. Strictly, with not a single “cooked” cheat since because I’m a physicist and wanted to do a meaningful experiment. Well after about 6 months on this diet the “kidney stones factory that my organism used to be had stopped it’s production”. That’s it, after all what may I add?

Well some details about diet:

The kind of raw paleo diet I was on now for 11 years is basically omnivore with initially and on average about 40% fruit, berries and nuts, olives, avocados.. 20% weggies and 40% food of animal kingdom (meat and fat of boar- fatty ribs of boar is still my favorite-, lamb, beef and other game when available, eggs, crabs, shrimps, fatty fish, shellfish etc). Over the years the diet changed progressively to a larger proportion of animal food (around 70-80 % now) that replaced the fruits not because I wanted to do that for theoretical reasons but just because fruits and sweet taste became less and less attractive and fatty meats or fish became more attractive. I have also observed that I need now much less calories and food than initially without any loss of weight (BMI=22.3 stable). With respect to fruit I add that I have absolutely no history of diabetes, all tests normal, even when I was on standard neolithic diet. This might explain that I’m able to do fairly well with a substantial quantity of fruit.

So much satisfying brain food. Thanks Alphagruis!

Fish Oil Supplements are BAD not good. Just eat natural animal fats.

January 9, 2010 by Good Samaritan

Professor Brian Peskin is the kind of man who believes in TRUE studies. Brian believes that studies which are not financed by corporate interests come out with honest studies with honest results. He cites Harvard as having a huge enough endowment fund to make honest academic studies.

The good professor uses his own technical terms to describe the unadulterated natural fats as Parent Essential Oils or PEOs. He says that it is PEOs that humans must consume, not fish oil isolates.

“I am often asked how my EFA-based recommendations differ from others. The answer is simple but very significant. The term “Essential Fatty Acids” is misused so frequently that I was compelled to coin a new phrase, Parent Essential Oils (PEOs).”

Brian says that the ratio of omega 6 to omega 3 fats should be from 2:1 to 1:1. He has 2 youtube videos where he personally explains why fish oil supplements are not for you.

and

Personally, I do not believe nor take any isolated supplements. When I want fats I consume raw fats. Fats from raw fish, raw beef, raw coconuts, raw durian, raw avocados, etc.

Longevity Interview with 108 year old Bernando LaPallo

January 8, 2010 by Good Samaritan

Now that I’m healthy I can begin to think about longevity. I know that my immediate ancestors have a long life track record. And it appears that when I saved my grandparents from pneumonia mismanagement, that healing technologies are also part of the equation.

Paul Nison has a 3 part interview with centenarian Bernando LaPallo, 108 years old. Mr. LaPallo has a website www.agelesslivemorestore.com and keeps a blog.

Any longevity advice needs to be taken from those who live it. I ask and observe my grandparents, make corrections, make improvements. Advice from a culture of centenarians. Advice from this 108 year old man is important.

Now Paul Nison likes to exaggerate that Bernando looks like he’s 60, but just surviving to 108 is a pretty good feat. Let’s listen to this 3 part interview.

Sorting through the various diet practitioners at Raw Paleo Forum

January 3, 2010 by Good Samaritan

Raw Paleo Forum is one of the best resources to find healthy people and find out about the variances in their diet practices. Thanks to Craig and Geoff who started the forum and had the vision to include a diverse range of raw paleo diet variations in the forum. The non practitioner would think well, these guys eat raw meat, raw vegs and raw fruit, what kind of variations would there be? Mind you there are a lot. Since there are so few practitioners of raw paleo diet, there is no sense in splintering, but putting them together actually makes sense.

Witness the discussion in a thread about long term zero carbers or pure raw carnivores where they only consume raw meat and water. Paleo Donk has a very nice synthesis of the different raw paleo diet practitioners:

The degree to how “poisonous” carbs are is directly related to how sensitive we are to insulin. At one end we have new borns who must have heavy carb intake and who would function worse without them. At the other end we have diabetics/epileptics who cannot handle carbs and will function optimally as a carnivore. Everyone else falls somewhere in between.

Finding out what is optimal is a different story. We have all heavily convoluted the situation by eating decades worth of garbage that has us in this position. Our bodies do not work like they were intended and each one of has different problems with different methods of eating. Just because one method works for us now does not mean it would work just as well for us as small children with uncompromised systems. Our systems are all compromised in one way or the other.

Tyler seems to get sick at merely the sight of cooked foods, where I can eat cooked meat all day long for months and be in great health. William finds that pemmican is vastly superior than any other food where others have not found this to be so. This what makes the discovery so interesting. We are all so different. We each are all uniquely damaged goods and we all need uniquely different treatments to achieve superior health again. One method for all does not seem to work.

Simply saying that carbs are poisonous is too simplistic and does not take a look at the full spectrum of issues. Tyler, for instance, absolutely needs some carbohydrate intake or his system will fail. Carbs are certainly not poisonous for him, they help him maintain optimal health. Same for many other members of the forum.

I also once thought that eating meat and water would work for everyone if they gave it enough time. This is just not realistic and although just meat and water does work extremely well (and is likely optimal) for many it is not simply the solution for everyone’s problems. This is where ZIOH can get people in trouble, they do not like to investigate anything other than meat and water. They are a bit too one dimensional, although their one dimention works extraordinarily well for some people.

I’ve noticed that ZIOH discussion forums have died down recently and almost come to a complete halt. There is very little new discussion and some members have even expressed their approval of this. When you only look at just meat and water I suppose their is very little to discuss. This is why I enjoy this forum so much is that the discussion is very broad and there is no general answer for everyone. It is multidimensional.

ZIOH is the pure carnivore only diet forum where members eat only meat and water… mostly cooked meat.

In the raw paleo forum, members are inquisitive and experiment and try out the variations and report their results. Paleo Donk satisfied my observation by putting in into nice concise words. Thanks!
