Fuzzibunz: A Better Diaper for a Better Philippines

December 8, 2010 by Good Samaritan

I came across a diaper invention that seemed new to me: Fuzzibunz, one diaper from birth to potty training. That was news to me, these multiple colored diapers seemed like a good idea.  Less waste, no rashes, no chemicals on your baby, one size fits all.  Probably buy 10 diapers or more for your new born and wash and wear for the rest of his baby life.

If you think that’s expensive, think how expensive disposable diapers are.  Think how many chemicals are in those disposable diapers.  Think of the health impact of disposable diapers are to your little child from the chemicals, to the skin not being able to breath, all those rashes you can avoid.  If your baby could talk, he’ll say thank you mom and dad. Just remember to wash the diaper with organic soap.  Don’t use fabric softeners.

Fuzzibunz has a stall in the Mercato weekend market at Bonifacio Global City.  Also available at Hobbes & Landes:  Bonifacio High Street, Greenbelt 5, Rockwell Power Plant, Greenhills Promenade.  Call 0917-804-9225.  Email fuzzibunzphilippines@gmail.com and on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/FuzziBunzPhilippines

Grumpy Vegan: Excessive Health by Being Beautiful, Attractive, Sensual, Sexual of Raw Paleo Dieters is Bad Karma – Animalistic

December 3, 2010 by Good Samaritan

A grumpy vegan / vegetarian named Corin lashes out at Raw Paleo Dieters like me for being excessively healthy:

“Other things that many people notice in people who adopt a raw animal product diet is that these people become very primal physically and sexually, often becoming quite “beautiful,” attractive, sensual, and I have noticed an excess of promiscuity among “primal” practioners, as have others. Yet this is all part of returning to an animalistic nature. Additionally there is the ego jolt people get on the diet from consuming other animals and getting power from it. This of course is a false sense of power however, and I shudder to think of all the bad karma these people are creating from a misused sense of power.”

Paleo Diet for Child’s Class Birthday Celebration: Balut, Melons and Watermelon

December 1, 2010 by Good Samaritan

My daughter celebrated her 6th birthday in her kindergarten class this morning.  The class ceremony had the children wearing special outfits and a special ceremony of a fable was told how she came to be.  And then eating time for 14 children and 4 adults.  I spent for the food, so it has to be paleo diet food:  balut, melons and watermelon.

Balut are cooked duck embryos, everyone likes balut.  I think the 2 teachers were the ones who were the most excited.

Melons, everyone likes melons and they are in season.

Watermelon, if for some reason melons were not enough, we had watermelon.

No water needed to drink.  There was enough water in the melons and the watermelon.

Actually, my girl wanted to serve Japanese sushi like in the party we had at home but that was too much work for me.

Balut was easy enough to prepare, wake up early, go to the wet market, buy 40 live baluts, then boil for 15 minutes.  Ta dah.

Kids had a blast.

Almost Paleo Diet Healthy Birthday Dinner of Comfort Foods

November 29, 2010 by Good Samaritan

Our young little girl celebrated her 6th birthday last night with a dinner celebration with cousins and us grown ups of course. I had disapproved the commercial Japanese maki this time and said we can make our own maki individually, it’s so easy. So I bought all the ingredients all the guests needed:

– raw blue marlin sashimi
– raw yellow fin tuna sashimi
– raw salmon sashimi
– organic white rice + rice vinegar et al to make Japanese sushi rice
– several brands of sushi sea weed wrapper
– mangoes
– cucumbers
– a big box of fish roe
– fermented and brewed soy sauce, bought a different brand this time
– made our own home made mayonnaise with raw duck egg yolks + extra virgin olive oil + butter + sea salt
– got 3 rolling mats people could share

Aside from the sushi roll your owns, I tried an appetizer with dried dilis plus raw monggo bean sprouts.

And later on was served some peking duck my wife bought from Laguna at a place called “Itlog ni Kuya”, we just re-heated it in the oven.

Sifu Jem Sam was there doing his acupuncture thing and said that in his more than decade stay in the Philippines he had never seen such a healthy spread in a party. It’s usually spaghetti, pancit and soft drinks.

Oh I almost forgot my wife served a health drink juice she made from raw lemon and raw basil leaves. Oh so refreshing!

Invested in Paleo Diet Cook Books!

November 26, 2010 by Good Samaritan

Being on the ultimate diet, which is raw paleo diet is the easiest thing there is.  Buy raw meat, store raw meat, eat raw meat.  Eat raw fruit in season.  Eat some vegetables when I feel like it.  My meal plan is something like this: breakfast fruits, lunch lots of raw meat and fat, snack fruit, dinner some raw meat and fat.  Maybe once a week I have some salads or juiced vegetable.

But the family, wife and kids must have their cooked thing.  Warm, hot, with nice presentation.  Uggghhh, social blah, waste of time and effort and less nutritious.  So they are on a somewhat cooked meat paleo diet plus rice.  But now we are making a new upgrade.

The first change is to strike off soy sauce.  Sure we got fermented and brewed soy sauce, but it is still soy and not as nutritious as himalayan salt or sea salt.  So soy sauce is out starting today.  Gloom from the family, what dishes to prepare?  Solution, get a new cookbook.  New ideas.

We once had a big cookbook by Sally Fallon of the Weston A Price foundation, I think that was Nourishing Traditions cook book, but the big flood last year took it.

Last night I got Paleo Diet Cook Books by Nikki Young.  It’s an awesome paleo diet cook book collection.  2 volumes on the 2nd edition plus I also got to download their first edition.  Then it comes with a 30 day meal plan, in full color professionally photographed layout.

No excuses now from the family to go 100% paleo diet.  These dishes are not conducive to rice eating.  Grrr…. I’d like to see that malnourishing rice go away.  Rice is malnourishing because it slows down the digestion process by conflicting with meat digestion and taking up stomach space otherwise better used by more meat and more vegetables.

I’m excited.  Change is good.  Change for the better.  This is my next paleo diet shot for the family.  I bought my books at http://paleodiet.co

Prevent Tooth Decay in Toddlers With This Simple Milk Formula Adjustment

November 22, 2010 by Good Samaritan

Notice that there are many children around 2 to 5 who have horrible, horrible teeth. Aside from all the candy and the flour they eat, the worst culprit is their milk formula. You read it right, it is their milk formula. Let me explain.

Milk formula is not mother’s milk. If you are a mother, you are used to breast feeding the baby until he falls asleep. This is fine because mother’s breast milk is good, alkaline, nutritious and will never cause tooth decay. The problem of tooth decay starts when you wean your child off of precious breast milk and into inferior milk substitute formula. You continue the habit of feeding with milk formula until the child is asleep. This is the recipe for tooth decay. The remaining inferior milk substitute formula remains in the child’s mouth, but unlike health mother’s breast milk, this milk substitute formula is acidic and eats away at a toddler’s delicate teeth!

What to do? Adjust your bottle feeding time. Feed a bit earlier. Always make room to brush your toddler’s teeth before he / she goes to sleep. Gargle and rinse out all the inferior milk substitute formula from your toddler’s mouth. Avoid toothpaste with fluoride. Fluoride is poison. Go to your health food store and buy toothpaste with zero fluoride.

You may also look into more superior milk substitutes such as raw goat’s milk. But nothing will ever beat specific mother’s milk as it has been formulated specifically for your child.

So there you have it, it is as simple as brushing your toddler’s teeth before he goes to bed. Because now, he / she’s on inferior milk formula. Ah, the hazards of modern society, mothers are unable to breast feed their young enough.
