Invested in Electric Mosquito Killers

April 6, 2010 by Good Samaritan

We just got back to Marikina. House was repaired. But there are a lot, I mean, a lot of mosquitoes! I’m not into poisoning mosquitoes, that would mean poisoning adults and children in the household as well as the mosquitoes. I decided to go electric. You know, those purple flourescent bulbs and wire slots that electrify and singe mosquitoes with a ZAP / TACK / POP!

Expensive huh, 1,200 pesos for the big model in Handy Man. But boy it’s worth it. The very first evening, non stop zapping. But then we sleep and smile soundly.

We have been closing all windows and using the airconditioner at night. Mosquitoes bite less when it’s cold.

Don’t want my kids getting dengue fever. Of course we know how to cure dengue. I made www.denguecure.com But why go through the risk.

So it is mosquito killing time. Maybe we should buy more.

Stressed to the Max, No Candida This Time

April 4, 2010 by Good Samaritan

Holy Week Hell! What a contradiction. And I thought I was going to have a lovely vacation Thursday to Sunday. But noooo…. suddenly Server 22 was down and out. A couple of angry customers text and email me.

At first I contacted the data center. They were working on it. Technical details. They were working on it again. More technical details. No cigar, have to do a bare metal restoration of Server 22. Must wait again for several hours. Then more waiting when it came to the actual data. And finally the data center says their backups were corrupted as well. All 7 backups? I asked. They said all 7 backups.

Is that a major stressor or what?

Now where did I have my own 8th backup? Aha, it’s here, but I have to painfully manually restore them one by one while the data center gave me a new server with a new IP address. Good I invested in a solid dns server service, just one stroke, all IP addresses changed.

So Wednesday evening stressed. Initiated my own restore. Slept while restore was running. Thursday morning, rush to configure each and every website. Then Friday monitor. Saturday we had to move houses. From the fort, back to marikina. You remember the flood last year? house fixed, we moved back. house is bare. Zero. Buy stuff again.

In 2006 when I had a server disaster I was so stressed I got candida. I learned to do the VCO detox then to cure that candida episode. But now that I’m on raw paleo diet with high fat, low carb in proportions, I handled this stress like a champ. No candida whatsoever, nothing to feed it.

I just had my normal pure food. Raw meat, fresh raw coconut juice and coconut meat, and some guavas.

It’s Sunday evening. No vacation for me. Hope you had a nice vacation yourself.

Expensive Shrimp in Chili-Butter Sauce Replaced with Raw Beef to Save Money and for Better Health

March 29, 2010 by Good Samaritan

Summer vacation time! My 8 year old boy was with me Monday in my office. He had a great time with me. I had a great time. Lunch time and he said he wanted shrimp in chilli-butter sauce. Okay, we went downstairs to Farmers Market Dampa and asked how much: 100 pesos for 3 shrimps! Steeeeeeppppp!!!

I suggested we just buy some 1 kilo of fresh raw shrimp and have it cooked for 150 pesos. While choosing shrimp, the prices were from 350 pesos to 450 pesos per kilo! Steeeppppeeerrr!!!

My son was getting hungry from all the walking and asking in the market. It finally sinked into him that shrimp was really very very expensive. Even if we picked the 350 per kilo shrimp + 150 peso fee cooking equals 500 pesos total expense.

So back to my hungry son, he suggested out of his own internal thoughts that we should have RAW BEEF instead! He said raw beef was much cheaper and raw beef is becoming a more appealing deal now that he was VERY HUNGRY.

So we happily went to the beef side of the wet market and we chose the most tender cut of sirloin. 290 pesos per kilo. We got more than 4 kilos for taking home as our stock for the coming holy week vacation. We got 450 grams for our combined lunch… which came out only 130 pesos… for the two of us! And we were stuffed!

So the butchers there who weren’t familiar with us saw a small boy eating raw beef plain with nothing in it. We picked the best looking best tasting one so it didn’t need any flavoring, this beef had its own flavor with it.

We went back to my office, got some chopsticks and got filled up fast. Super cheap, superior cleanliness, best nutrition… raw beef is so much better than cooked chilli-butter shrimp. Seems the shrimp were fresh water farmed anyway compared to the pasture / grass fed beef.

Yes, I’m succeeding, my son picked raw beef out of his own free will!

Sebo de Macho is Ghee? Clarified Butter?

March 25, 2010 by Good Samaritan

Sebo de Macho is a long time product out there. It’s very cheap. It is effective in removing skin marks / “peklat” with diligent application. What’s in Sebo de Macho? It smells like ghee / clarified butter. I think most of it is ghee.

So I use ghee when I get a massage. I let the maids use ghee to fry their food or our kids’ food. And I use ghee to moisturize dry skin.

My 6 year old boy has some dry eczema spots on his legs, itch, then scab. He can’t do fully raw paleo diet yet. So he’s going to continue getting some dry skin on his legs.

Last night I showed him that ghee can be used on his legs. He tried it on. Smelled good enough to eat.

In the meantime, sebo de macho was effective in finally healing my 8 year old boy’s rough spot on his right arm. That rough spot was linked to his large intestine troubles, deeply rooted. Now with constant application of sebo de macho on his own initiative, it seems to have all disappeared. We don’t give credit all to sebo de macho. That rough spot was linked to his primary complex / tuberculosis. His large intestine in disarray, he wasn’t getting enough nutrition. When he went fully on paleo diet and raw paleo diet and some bieler’s soup and with beam ray treatments, liver flushing, his large intestine had healed. The rough spot drastically reduced. Sebo de macho just cosmetically did what it was supposed to do.

So I think Sebo de Macho is white Ghee. Or probably aged ghee. Ghee is good. Sebo de Macho is good. It’s the beauty secret of beauty queens. Their mothers took care of their blemishes with sebo de macho.

Swimming Pool Asthma, Chlorine Allergy on my kids

March 23, 2010 by Good Samaritan

There is a reason my wife never joins us in swimming in the swimming pool of the condominium. She believes the chlorine in the pool is very bad. In fact she noticed that it seems our children get colds after swimming in the pool, but not when swimming in the beach. Especially our 5 year old girl.

I decided to test this theory once and for all. Last Wednesday the 3 children were asking for a swim in the midst of the heat of the summer afternoon. Sure I said. Just 20 minutes. So they swam around 5:40 pm to 6pm.

Sure enough the following day Thursday, our 7 year old boy and our 5 year old girl had the beginnings of a cold. On Friday morning, their colds were terrible. Still terrible Saturday and Sunday. Monday the 2 children were not allowed to go to school. Just the eldest, the 8 year old boy went to school.

We are doing the usual thing. Cayenne tincture, fresh oregano juicing, mercurius vivus, raw paleo diet, cough elixir. Starting to subside Monday afternoon. All of them will probably be able to go to school Tuesday.

Lesson learned. Swimming pool asthma is real. Chlorine allergy leading to asthma, terrible colds, total feeling of unwellness is real. Now I’m convinced my wife was right all along. Now the kids are convinced that the swimming pool is no longer enticing. Now we know 100% sure that swimming pools ARE HARMFUL to our health. And if you see these kids suffer when in a terrible cold, crying, finding it hard to breath… you will be convinced, it’s not for them, swimming pools are not for us.

So our next best bet are the beaches. The clean ones. Already I can identify the Pacific ocean side of the Philippines as the cleanest beaches. No industries and no shipping there at all. Natural pools. The beach in Laiya Batangas seemed very clean. We should go to the beach this April while on summer break.

Computer Geek’s Been Busy Tweaking a New Dedicated Server

March 22, 2010 by Good Samaritan

Sorry I haven’t been health blogging lately. Been busy with my new dedicated internet server. Prices have gone down which now allows me to get my hands on a Quad Core 8 GB RAM internet server. Awesome power.

Not really new technology. But now affordable. Now that the intel i7 has arrived on dedicated servers, quad core prices have come down. The current server versions of linux are not yet well tested on i7, so I chose the Quad Core.

I’m testing a large MySQL database server on 64 Bit OS and running virtualization for the website front end using 32 bit OSes. Tricky firewalling and nfs setup, but fun. Will be deploying soon, moving an existing client to this new platform. Probably tomorrow? Let’s see if all tests well.

I want to see this baby run like… like… very fast.

Losing a few hours of sleep. No pain no gain. We need the experience. Gotta keep up with the techno world.
