Computer Vision Syndrome bothering me? Most probably.

November 23, 2008 by Good Samaritan

Some 2 or more weeks ago I woke up with suddenly wobbly, blurred vision. I found it hard to drive. I thought it was extreme astigmatism. I thought maybe I’ve had too much vitamin A with raw liver and raw pancreas. Then I thought it must be computer vision fatigue. Now I think maybe a blood vessel in my eye ruptured and caused that temporary problem… the astigmatism went away. But there was the nagging negative feedback spot in my right eye at the lower right field of view. This is my quest for that cure.

I’m maybe suspecting computer vision syndrome which might lead to retinal detachment. But when I asked a customer who is an opthalmologist he says retinal detachments are idiopathic… aka western medicine does not know why… but they can always offer surgery… ah business.

Then I noticed my right eye is not flowing as much tears as my left eye when I was cutting onions for lunch. Maybe my tear ducts, blood vessels or nerves are blocked. I went to the neighborhood “hilot” Aling Betty and sought her massage. Seemed to help.

I also ordered eyebright formula from Dr. Schulze’s website to cleanse and increase circulation in my eye. While waiting for that, I’m using Quantum Mineral Drops to cleanse my right eye from time to time.

Seems the negative feedback is still there or my brain has started to ignore it by compensating. I only see the negative feedback part if I’m consciously looking at it when I blink.

An article for eye care was nicely made by Dr. Sanjay in New Delhi:

Computers have become an integral part of everyone’s life. They have made things so much fast and simple but have brought with them new problems related to the eyes. These problems affect all those who spend a significant time working on the computers everyday. However, these computer related eye problems are mostly due to our own wrong habits. I call this cluster of problems e-Pain (which may mean electronic / eye pain) which is also called Computer Vision Syndrome.

What are the problems?

* Pain
* Redness
* Watering
* Headache
* Fatigue
* Irritability
* Poor Concentration

Pain and eye strain being so common among the computer users that it would be appropriate to call this cluster of computer related eye problems: e-Pain.

What causes these problems?

An understanding of what causes these symptoms can help us take appropriate preventive steps.

eyes@computer.pain

It is important to know that computer monitors do not emit any harmful rays or radiations (monochrome or color).

The causes of the trouble are:

1. Constantly gazing at a near distance (at the monitor)
2. Decreased rate of blinking

Convergence Fatigue

When we look at a near object both our eyes move towards each other (converge) to fixate at the target. Prolonged viewing of the monitor at close distance leads to fatigue of convergence and its weakness / insufficiency. This consequently leads to eye strain, pain and headache.

Infrequent Blinking

Decreased rate of blinking while working on computers leads to instability of the tear film of the eyes. This leads to feeling of dryness, irritation, redness and a reflex watering from the eyes.

What is the solution?

There is no single magic remedy for this problem. Following set of measures can be undertaken together to get relief:

1. Proper Visual Hygiene

* Monitor should be placed about 2-3 feet from the eyes (or at the farthest comfortable distance).
* Do not gaze constantly at the monitor for long duration. Take your eyes off the screen every 5-10 minutes.
* Every half an hour or so close your eyes for 1-2 minutes to give them rest.
* Every hour or so take a 5 minutes break (go for a stroll or run some errand).
* Make a conscious effort to blink more frequently. Avoid sitting in front of an air conditioner facing its air draft while working on computer.

2. Convergence Exercises

Regular eye exercise can help prevent the problems caused by working on comuters or even heavy reading or writing work. These exercises are advised for all copmuter professionals, students, office workers, etc.

Sit on a chair upright and look at a far off samll object.

Then hold out a pen at level with your eyes at an arm’s lenght and look at its tip.

Gradually bring the pen close to your eyes to a point where you feel a mild strain on your eyes. The tip of the pen should remain clear and single in appearance. Hold the pen in this position for about half a minute and then again gradually take it back to an arms length. Hold it here again for about half a minute, and then again bring the pen close to your eyes.

Repeat above step 10 times and then again look the far off small object. Again repeat the whole sequence.

In the begining this exercise should be done for 5-10 minutes just once a day in the morning at a time when you are fresh and rested. After one week it should be increased to twice daily and after two weeks thrice a day. Avoid doing the exercise when you are tired or are having pain in eyes or headache. In the initial period when you begin exercising the pain in the eyes and headache may increase, but this should not discourage you. As you continue the exercise you will gradually feel relief from the sypmtoms over 2-3 weeks.

Continue the excercise for 2 months to build good eye muscle strength and reserves power.

3. Lubricant Eye Drops

Lubricant eye drops instilled 3-4 times a day help in soothing the eyes and relieving irritation and redness. Many preparations are available in the market e.g. Tears Plus, Hypotears Plus, Moss, Moisol, etc. Although allergy or reactions to these eye drops are uncommon yet one should be careful in using them, and if they cause any irritation, redness or swelling of the eyes they should be immediately discontinued. It is advisable to consult an ophthalmologist before using any eye medicines.

I hope that this article will help you reap the benefit of e-Commerce, and not suffer the misery of e-Pain.

Austrian Government Study Confirms Genetically Modified (GM) Crops Threaten Human Fertility and Health Safety

November 21, 2008 by Good Samaritan

This is for those who still have not made changes to their shopping strategies and are still mindlessly shopping like television commercial zombies. Please wake up and get a clue. Today’s genetically modified crops are greed driven monstrosities that have never had human nutrition and health in mind. Look up Raw Paleolithic Diet for best results with health and fertility.

I have an uncle who plants GM corn and he says the GM corn is he plants is not for human consumption. He says the GM corn he plants is processed as animal feeds. Next I talked to a hog farmer and he says swines have an epidemic… must be a virus… and I told him: Have you checked your GM feeds?

Boy Dies after Spraying Too Much Deodorant

November 21, 2008 by Good Samaritan

I don’t buy commercial deodorants because they have chemicals I can’t pronounce.  Meaning, they are dangerous, toxic.  The rule of thumb is, if you can’t eat it, don’t put it on your skin. I use either calamansi, lemon, or nothing.  Sometimes the dangerous chemicals in your deodorant can kill you immediately.  Just like what happened to this 12 year old boy Daniel Hurley.

From the Daily Mail at http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1087772/Boy-12-collapsed-died-using-Lynx-deodorant.html

A boy of 12 collapsed and died after using ‘copious’ amounts of deodorant in a cramped bathroom, an inquest heard.

Daniel Hurley was overcome by solvents in the Lynx Vice spray and his heart began to beat irregularly, the hearing was told.

His father Robert found him collapsed in the bath at the family home after spraying on too much of the deodorant.

Mr Hurley said he had desperately tried to revive Daniel but the schoolboy died in hospital five days later from cardiac arrhythmia – or abnormal heart rhythms.

He told the inquest in Derby on Wednesday that Daniel ‘was always putting gel on his hair and spraying deodorant’.

Mr Hurley told the inquest he had been making tea while his son used the bathroom at their home in Sandiacre, near Nottingham.

‘The bathroom is adjacent to the kitchen and I shouted to see if he was OK,’ he said. ‘I heard nothing so I shouted again but did not get a reply.

‘I forced the door open and found Daniel in the bath. I checked for his heart rate and his breath but he was not breathing.’

An ambulance took Daniel to Nottingham’s Queen’s Medical Centre. He died five days later on January 12 this year.

Addressing Hearing Problems methodology

November 19, 2008 by Good Samaritan

Is one of your ears hard of hearing?  Or not hearing at all?  Here is a methodology of what we do and have been quite successful at this.  The first thing to think about is blockages.  Just unblock the blockages.  Second thing to think about are nerves or bone misalignments.  Last to think about is actual damage.

For blockages, pollution or wax:

Try putting 3 to 5 drops of Quantum Minerals Plus drops in the affected ear.  Make sure it goes all the way down.  Do this for 2 days and wait for improvements.  Our maid was deaf in 1 ear and it only took 3 drops and 5 minutes to cure her deaf right ear.  Been deaf there for 6 months.

If there is more blockage, try softening the wax blockage with many drops of extra virgin olive oil.  Leave that overnight.  In the morning, put a 50% diluted in purified water of hydrogen peroxide, some 5 drops or until you see it bubble.  My kids find this fun.  Do this for 3 days to 5 days and ask your child for results.  This works for my oldest child.

Clear sinuses.  If you are the sinusitis prone person.  Cayenne tinctures will do this.  3x a day 1 droperfull.  Or add lots of cayenne in organic chicken soup.

If these simple and cheap solutions don’t work, go to your Chiropractor or Dorn-Method practitioner.  They will align your spine and any subluxations affecting hearing should be corrected.

If the above do not work, visit your ear doctor.

Dandruff Cure using Virgin Coconut Oil and Clove Oil attempt initiated

November 16, 2008 by Good Samaritan

I dug up an old email from a Cambodian expert I had read on Curezone.com that he had a cure for dandruff.  From what I understand of this cure approach is to use increasing amounts of Clove Oil in your medium to put on your scalp.

Around 2 weeks ago I bought a bottle of clove oil from the Indian grocery Assad for 180 pesos for a small bottle.

This morning I and my sons had a haircut at the local barber and I asked for a quote on the service to massage my planned treatment on my scalp.  The lady said it cost P 150.  Fair enough if I was going to do this 10 times the cost is P 1,500 and I get an expert who is experienced in massaging scalps.

So after we had finished our haircut I brought the kids home and I came back with my materials:

  • a small shot glass
  • a dropper
  • clove oil
  • virgin coconut oil

At the barber shop I mixed the clove oil with the virgin coconut oil in the proportion 1 drop clove oil to 10 drops virgin coconut oil.  The quantity we used was 30 drops of clove oil and 300 drops of virgin coconut oil.  The progression of intensity of clove oil will be initially from 1 to 10 and increased daily to 2 to 10, 3 to 10 until on the last day it is 10 to 10.  This should kill all the fungus and parasites living under the scalp.

The lady used a small cotton ball and expertly massaged my concoction on my scalp.  Then she massaged my scalp with her hands.  She said this seems to be good stuff as the dandruff flakes seem to be immediately rising… becoming dislodged.  That’s encouraging.

I’m not sure if I understood the instructions correctly and if my materials are correct.  This is what self experimenting is all about.  Don’t try this at home yet.  Let me finish with my experiment.

Our visiting 5 year old girl gives me a glimpse of how bad our food perceptions used to be

November 14, 2008 by Good Samaritan

My wife’s 5 year old female nephew by her cousin who has been staying with us for more than 2 weeks now is very educational for us.  We have what you call a clash of food culture.  She is of the usual television informed majority seduced by the television advertisements.

She was temporarily housed in our compound due to what they suspected as allergies to the neighbor’s chickens raising 30 plus fighting cocks.  It turns out from my observation of this little girl that it is because of a low fat and junk food diet provided to this girl makes her constipated.  Her parents had no idea that she was already experiencing extreme constipation.  While we are already freaked out by non-pooping of 1 day or 2 days… this little girl went on 5 or 6 day non pooping expeditions and the dad and the nannie were not the least bit alarmed… because they haven’t been taught about that little fact.  Constipation will make you sick… constipation can kill you… constipation leads to your body making anaerobic germs to digest the poop stuck in your gut.

Check out this little girl’s food menu:

Breakfast lunch and dinner… cooked white rice

Breakfast add instant noodles, or bread with commercial cheese, or breakfast cereal — fruit loops and Milo brand chocolate milk drink

Lunch is either hotdogs or any cooked fish…

And absolutely no fat…. so this little girl consumes white rice like there’s no tomorrow.

And this little girl refuses all the fruits we have in the house.  She’s not familiar with any of the local Philippine fruits!

It can be amusing at times but I’m not amused when my own children are being given the junk food they bring in.

So this is how we used to be.  I used to be something like this until around 7 years ago.  It was not until I had my own children when I wanted to learn about the truth about what’s really best for my family.  Plus that fact that our health challenges got greater and greater.

How do I know our path is correct?  We’re solving our health challenges by ourselves and we need to see doctors less and less… in fact… none at all.  Now you know why most of the medical profession don’t want us to learn to fend for ourselves… it’s bad for their business.
