Marikina – Infanta Highway via the Sierra Madre Mountains now open to vehicular traffic albeit Dangerously so

January 2, 2010 by Good Samaritan

We started the new year 2010 January 1 with a bang. We checked in to a Pranjetto Hills cottage, 51 kilometers from White Plains in Quezon City via Cogeo. In the morning as we were checking out we asked the hotel lady if the new road towards Infanta, Quezon Province was open to vehicular traffic, she said a most definite yes, her friend who is a fish dealer just passed by the new road.

Oh yes, it was time for an adventure. I got my wife to agree, we thought infanta was just 1 hour away. But it turned out to be 3 hours away with the land slide riddled roads, narrow roads which you could fall off cliffs and rough un-cemented un-paved roads. Ondoy did a lot of damage up in these mountains too.

The view was just majestic, awe inspiring, this is one trek no tour operator has come up with yet. We were one of the first civilians to go through the road… because it is unfinished. And it is dangerous. Do not attempt this when it is raining, the roads may get muddy in some parts. Your vehicle must be in tip top shape, a lot of dead cell phone spots, even with Smart the nationwide network. Travel only during daylight, there are no street lights.

It is sparsley populated though, families have sprung up. Maybe women who like construction workers formed families and lived in the mountains and gave birth and raised children. This project has gone on too long. They say from president Marcos times.

There were military soldiers. One even nicely asked us where we were going. He saw a family man with a wife and kids and a nannie. Nope, no rebel soldiers in this van. We took a Toyota Innova.

And after an almost 3 hour trek, we made it. Awesome! We were in infanta after 75 kilometers from Pranjetto Hills. So if you are coming from White Plains, the whole trip to Infanta via the new Marikina – Infanta road is some 126 kilometers. I bet if the roads were paved you can make the trip in 2.5 hours. Maybe before the end of this year the roads will be all paved.

We took pictures! Yeah. Majestic end of the trip you see the river ending up in the Pacific ocean. What a sight. On the way back, we took the normal route via Antipolo town proper as I saw that after lunch the clouds were descending upon the mountains. Don’t want to drive in that cloud cover. Too risky. In my first scouting clouds did come down and my visibility was reduced to just 40 feet.

In Infanta I got some fishy souvenirs. Bought a full styrofoam container of freshly caught fish and put ice in it. Yummy fresh. And cheap too.

What a way to start the year! Happy New Year 2010!

Escaped the New Year Firecracker smoke by checking in to Pranjetto Hills on top of the Sierra Madre mountain range

January 2, 2010 by Good Samaritan

It is a new year tradition in the Philippines to light your own fireworks every midnight on new year. As a result, towns and cities mostly wind up full of deadly, asthma causing smoke. Every year since our kids were born, my wife and I always spent enough to get out of the city to escape the smoke. Last year we were in the Sierra Madre hotel. This year we chose Pranjetto Hills… just 2 kilometers after Sierra Madre hotel.

Last year we were disappointed with the 0 star accommodations at Sierra Madre. Poor staff training and poor maintenance of facilities. Pranjetto Hills is no different. 0 star rating just the same. Staff are provincial folk from nearby Sampaloc town. What would you expect?

For example, when we arrived at Pranjetto Hills the single man left in charge looked us up and did not find our names in the reservation list. Yet we reserved by making a phone call just the day before. Plus they never asked us to register our names in their log book, they probably didn’t have any log book. I paid P 2,700 in the morning and the girl said they ran out of receipts! When I asked for a toilet seat on the porcelain toilet bowl, the man said… “What is a toilet seat? We don’t have any of those!”

But we didn’t come for any star accommodations right? The ambiance is just right, the air was cold, Baguio city cold, nice breeze.

Pranjetto Hills has nice ambiance, nice grounds, a big swimming pool, cheap enough accommodations. Be careful with your kids, the hills are steep enough they might roll down farther off than you would like. You should come during daylight. The mountains have no lights along the way and you can and will fall off the cliffs.

Bring your own food and drink. They have practically none to offer you. Really. We asked for mineral water and the guy just said sorry, the kitchen was closed.

If you are a city snob who likes starry rated accommodations, Pranjetto Hills is not for you. If you are a cowboy like me or a provincial folk, you will like Pranjetto Hills. Visit their website at www.pranjettohills.com

A review of our 2009 health changes and challenges

January 2, 2010 by Good Samaritan

The past year 2009 was good to me in terms of diet and health. My raw paleo diet that began in 2008 was improved in 2009 with my switch to a high raw fat low carb paleo diet which brought an end to all hypo-glycemia symptoms which all my life I thought was normal. The use of Bieler’s soup enabled me to solidify my gut and allowed me to gain weight. My limiting fruits has been helpful, no longer in the large amounts as in Wai diet, I’ve restricted myself and my family to hydrating fruit and high vitamin fruit.

The challenge with curing my 8 year old boy of tuberculosis / primary complex was a methodical and well executed. We thank the other doctor consultants for their opinions but the ultimate execution lay in my hands. No supplements helped, it was powerful food that saved the day. Henry Bieler was the star, lots of raw muscle beef, raw blood and raw fat, Bieler’s soup with Zucchini, string beans and parsley… plus maybe the beam ray machine helped as well. No supplements or herbals worked in this round. Food is the best and most powerful medicine.

We lost a lot of our herbs and tools when our house was flooded in the big Ondoy flood. My wife responds well to zappers and we lost all 3 zappers in that flood. My wife today has tummy pain which she says will easily be solved with a zapper. We are borrowing a zapper from a friend while we go about buying ourselves a new zapper. Maybe it is a good idea to buy from barefoot herbalist mh a new batch of his herbal dewormer… as an emergency stand by.

We got involved in a debate about curing tooth decay this year. My wai diet and fruitarian trials spilled over to my kids who ate too much fruit. My wife’s own addiction toward sweet fruit though seasonal victimized our 8 year old and our 5 year old which suffered from tooth decay. I had to make stern debates to lessen fruits and increase raw fat intake, even administer raw liver and raw meats to the children.

My wife appreciated the power of EMC and Quantum Minerals Plus drops with the almost instantaneous elimination of her gout pain in her knees and feet. Plus she learned the power of raw fat with raw duck eggs.

2009 was good for us in terms of health. We learned a lot. We are healthier after 2009. Hopefully 2010 is an even better year.

12 year old boy’s mother contemplating Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy or exploring the multitudes of Alternatives

December 29, 2009 by Good Samaritan

We visited my wife’s 12 year old nephew who was confined in a hospital bed under drips of a cocktail of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs and a simple salinase solution for his nose. He was rushed as an emergency when on the early mornings of December 25th he had difficulty breathing. His tonsils had swollen to a size that constricted his breathing. What the E.R. did was to puncture the tonsils so that a lot of pus could come out.

The 12 year old boy was relieved but the swelling of his tonsils was still there. He was admitted to a more equipped hospital where the resident doctor he says he is an expert at a cocktail of drugs that would shrink the swelling of the tonsils without having to puncture it again. But the boy needs to be confined for 1 week. This same doctor highly suggests the boy undergo an operation to remove his whole set of tonsils and his whole set of adenoids. Just 25k for his service, another 7.5k for some special equipment rental and then for the hospital bills. His suggestion comes with urgency, he says he can do it before the new year, decide now. He suggests that after coming off the antibiotics intravenous he will put the boy on oral antibiotics but there is no guarantee that a repeat inflammation will not occur in the near future. The doctor is of the opinion that his tonsils and adenoids are lost, that the bad bacteria had lodged themselves in there for good, they are necrotic tissue now. This is how this doctor has laid out his cards. But he says patients are free to get 2nd, 3rd and 4th opinions.

Upon interviewing the boy’s mother, she spills out the boy’s history. He was born premature at 7 months. He was of course in an incubator and bombarded with antibiotics. In his first year of life he had several bouts of pneumonia and later on too so he had many bouts of antibiotics intra venous and oral. Plus he suffered from asthma bouts allergic to things. Now it was found out he had sinus problems too… which accumulated mucus, that is why they shoot some salinase in his nose.

I laid out some possibilities for the mother. I showed him pictures and our personal video of using the Beam Ray machine. What if the doctor was wrong about those bacteria being lodged in for good? What if there was a simple treatment like the Beam Ray frequency generator that is guaranteed to eliminate all those bad bacteria allegedly lodged in for good?

Mucus elimination. What if your son could live with me for a short while and I teach him a mucus free diet? An inflammation extinguishing diet? A raw paleolithic diet is mucus free and inflammation extinguishing. None of that wheat and dairy that is causing his son problems.

This mother asked what about his son’s growth? He can use raw paleo diet as a treatment. Then he can eat some rice and cooked meat later on. Just like my 6 year old boy. But if he eventually likes it, he may continue on with it. He will learn a valuable tool and life skill.

If needed I could put his son on a fast as well. He can learn that too. If my 8 year old boy can understand what fasts do to his body, what more a 12 year old boy?

This boy’s mother is a recent graduate nurse and she understands the clear danger of general anasthesias and operations. She knows the statistics 2 to 4% morbidity. She’s seen mistakes and deaths first hand during her work and studies. Deaths happen. The responsibility for deciding a course of action is hers and hers alone. Because of her medical nursing background, she knows drugs and hospitals but she is also frustrated at the end of her rope that their options are getting worse and worse. She knows the alternatives through her financier in laws and me but only vague, she has no first hand knowledge to give her confidence.

My in laws have offered a 2nd opinion with the anthroposophic doctor Divina Hey-Gonzales.

Let’s see what she decides to do with the knowledge she has.

3 day Orange Juice Fast is Too Easy

December 28, 2009 by Good Samaritan

I’m on my 3rd day of orange juice fasting and it is too easy. My 8 year old boy called for this fast but stopped after 1 day. My mindset was on 3 days so I continued on. This is too easy. I would like to gun for a 21 day orange juice fast in January or February.

On my 2nd day of orange juice fasting yesterday morning I decided to buy a fresh raw coconut. Malakanin consistency aka with some thick but scoopable raw coconut meat / fat because I want to use this raw fat to make my bowels move instead of those dreaded chemical epsom salts. As a principle in orange juice fasting, you want to move your bowels daily. So the coconut meat / fat did the trick, I moved. And this 3rd day in the morning I moved again so no need to eat more coconut meat. And yesterday on the 2nd day I did some pool swimming with my kids.

This 3rd day at lunch I have a meeting with a customer who flew in from out of the country. The staff is eating, I’m just there for the meeting, I made it clear with the customer that I’m on a 3 day fast and this is my last day.

What can I say about this fast? It’s too easy. I think my adaptation to a high fat low carb raw diet has allowed me to have steady blood sugar levels. I don’t get hungry, I don’t get hypoglycemia symptoms. I’m now confident I can attempt a 21 day orange juice fast. I don’t like enemas so I will be using coconut meat fat as a bowel moving aid as I see fit.

I’ll fatten up some more and then attempt a 21 day orange juice fast. Maybe when I hit 135 pounds I’ll do the next long fast.

New Tonsillectomy Victim? Saved by lack of money?

December 27, 2009 by Good Samaritan

My wife’s nephew is confined in a hospital while being given powerful antibiotics for his alleged tonsil inflammation / infection. This boy has been on home antibiotic drugs for more than a week. I just saw him a few days ago. Now he’s confined in a hospital for failed home anti-biotic treatment? Now the doctor is making a hard sell to operate – to surgically remove the tonsils of the 12 year old boy. Why? Because the tonsils keep getting infected / inflamed? Ridiculous… first class FRAUD! And harmful too!

What’s saving this boy from the tonsillectomy mutilation is lack of money. His grandfather says it sounds like they don’t get a lot of business in their hospital and they want to make money out of this patient. The grandparents are seeking a 2nd or 3rd opinion. But the hospital has yet refused to release the boy.

There is always going against doctors orders. Discharged against hospital advice. Or FIRING the hospital and the doctor. Then going to BETTER doctors who do not have mutilation in mind and who may look at discovering the ROOT CAUSES of the boy’s frequent tonsil inflammations and infections.

Obviously the many rounds of drug antibiotics haven’t been working. Now they put the blame on the tonsils. Now it is nature’s fault tonsils were placed there in the first place. What first class frauds these people are!

This is a blow by blow event I will be reporting. We are driving up there to the hospital with the grandparents. I’m hands off on this matter. Don’t want to be involved in any blame game.

Of course if this were my child I would merely put him on a 100% raw paleo diet, colon cleanse, kidney cleanse, egg yolk liver flush, probably administer a juice fast, or if needed a full bed rest water fast. Swishing and gargling with dilluted cayenne tincture will help immensely. My new cayenne tincture batch is 2 months mature.

I know for a fact that this boy is in an insane wheat based diet. His mom bakes a lot. Plus they eat all those wheat based products. It’s a matter of choosing to stick to their wheat based diet dogma or giving it up in favor of her only child’s health. The boy is obviously allergic to wheat.

Orange juice fasting today just after Christmas

December 26, 2009 by Good Samaritan

My 8 year old boy suggested he do a 3 day orange juice fast. So I’m doing the orange juice fast with him. My wife joined us too.

This morning I went with a maid to Kalayaan street to buy 40 sunkist oranges at 10 pesos per piece.

We had an orange juicer in the house. We used some sports drink containers to put our squeezed and filtered orange juice in. My son as 250 ml allocation, my wife and I have a 500 ml allocation. We just add some orange juice in a glass and add a lot of filtered water.

Remember that this is a fast, not a feast.
