10 Vegan Sources of Protein – May Kill Your Kidneys and Flood you with Estrogen

May 11, 2012 by Good Samaritan

I have major disagreements with an article I found that listed 10 Vegan Sources of Protein.  This is a major recipe for killing people’s kidneys.  I wish they would stop spouting these dreadful vegan protein excuses to not eat animal meat.  Vegan sources of protein are incredibly low in FAT… and being low in FAT or even ABSENT in FAT is a total kidney disaster.  Dialysis centers are a booming business because of many people embracing the low fat diet hysteria.  Vegan protein sources are the epitome of high protein and ultra low fat.  So you may wind up killing your kidneys eating vegan sources of protein.Continue Reading

Baboy Damo, Baboy Ramo, Philippine Wild / Warty Pig, Female 5 months old

April 8, 2012 by Good Samaritan

In the search for wild nutritious food, via circumstances we got hold of this born in captivity baboy damo / baboy ramo / Philippine warty pig; from the native Ilocanos living in the high mountains of Tabuk.

baboy ramo, baboy damo, philippine warty pig

baboy ramo, baboy damo, philippine warty pig

From the looks of it, this baboy ramo seems to be of pure wild stock. Lucky find. We named her “Piggy Power” and she is 5 months old. It remains to be seen how long she will stay as a pet and then be butchered for food.

If you think this animal is of pure bred stock, then it may be interesting if a conservation group will raise her and breed her… pure bred… instead of diluting the gene pool of baboy ramo with commercial pig cross breeding.

Sineguelas Is in Season, My son is Craving Sineguelas, What is in Sineguelas?

April 7, 2012 by Good Samaritan

Sineguelas season just started. I bought some 3 kilos from the first fruit vendor in Marikina that carried sineguelas. My son just loves sineguelas. Craving for it. Now that my son is mostly on raw paleo diet, there must be some instinctive need for sineguelas. Might be linked to his healing?

What I did notice today is that I’m seeing the sings of scabbing in the last remaining wounds behind his legs. Could be a sign of good things to come. Or maybe I am over doing the lacto bacilli probiotics on my boy?

On the other hand I remember the past 2 years my boy always liked sineguelas. I myself do not have that kind of craving, for me it’s in season I can eat a few pieces, but not gorge on them.

I’m observing the boy and he needs it. Whatever is in that sineguelas, he needs it. He reminded me this evening to buy more sineguelas in the morning.

Looking at Stuartxchange.com it has Antimicrobia / Anti-Enterobacteriall properties: “In a study of 84 plants screened for in vitro activity against five enterobacteria pathogenic to man, Spondias purpurea was one of ten plants that showed the best antibacterial activity and provides scientific basis for use in enterobacterial infections in man.”

March 22, 2012 by Good Samaritan

Alec Baldwin is a famous actor. He’s one who gets it, who understands it. In his business he needs results. And when he became pre-diabetic and fat, he saw a good doctor and Alec Baldwin figured he was allergic to sugar and its many infernal incarnations. These are 2 intelligent men but their conversation has to be comedic and not drive away sponsors.Continue Reading

How to eat a Pineapple, How much to eat of a Pineapple

March 18, 2012 by Good Samaritan

Presented here in this video is how to open and slice up a pineapple. This guy is good. He shows you can cut round pieces like medallions. But you can also cut lengthwise. Which I prefer when serving pineapples because the sweetness of a pineapple varies from top to bottom. So if you cut in medallions you get a sweet medallion and a sour medallion. To be fair to all of the people you share your pineapple with, cut it lengthwise.

How much to eat of a pineapple? Notice in my above paragraph I said SHARE your pineapple. That is because you are NOT supposed to eat an entire pineapple by yourself. Not even HALF a pineapple of that size. You are just supposed to eat 1 lengthwise slice. 2 lengthwise slices if you are a glutton. But not more than that.

The other thing to look out for is when your tongue or lips start getting itchy or in pain. If any signs of that itch or pain begin, it’s time to stop eating pineapple. That means your body has had enough.

Pineapples can be very sweet or high in fructose without you knowing it causing high blood sugar spikes and eventual crashes if you eat too much. That is why my guideline is just 1 or 2 slices.

For SAD dieters, those who eat combinations of meat and rice or meat and wheat, or raw vegetables, or corn, those very hard to digest combinations and foods can be helped by eating a slice or two of pineapple for desert.

The pineapple enzymes are very powerful and can aid in digestion immensely. And this is also why you should not be eating an entire pineapple by yourself unless you want to bore holes in your gut.

Pineapples are great thirst quenchers and digestive aids, but do not overdo them. Remember, 1 or 2 slices is enough. That is what I judge as moderation. It is also the same serving size what rolling pineapple fruit vendors sell in the streets of Manila. So it’s also their judgment of moderation.

Durian Benefits: Durian Nutrition, Durian Varieties, Durian Milk

March 16, 2012 by Good Samaritan

I just came home from a Davao city and surroundings vacation. Durian was everywhere. Must be the most common fruit in Davao this March 2012.

I went to a durian specialty restaurant owned by a durian farmer.

Called D’Farmer’s Market in Davao City.

In his restaurant he has banners that show off the durian varieties he carries:

– Swarscott
– Puyat
– Cob White
– Chanee
– Canyao
– Arancillo

I know there is a “Native” variety, I wonder which one it is.

I bought 9+ kilos worth of various frozen durian from his restaurant and they packed it in a Styrofoam container so I could check it in the plane as baggage.

In the D’Farmer’s Market durian restaurant, he had a banner that states the nutritional facts of 1 variety of durian they had analyzed.

This does not represent the nutritional facts of other varieties of durian. This is just 1.

See how durian crazy these people of Davao are!
I went on a motorcycle tour of Samal Island and chanced upon a dairy farm.
They produced DURIAN MILK!

(It’s pasteurized… bummer.)
