My next diet experiment will be a mono raw beef diet

July 7, 2009 by Good Samaritan

I’ve been hanging out with the accomplished healthy people in the Raw Paleo Forum and some of them are on a pure raw meat diet, primarily raw beef. One elder practitioner is Lex Rooker and the diet that works best for him is a mono diet of raw beef and water.

Lex theorizes that humans may have descended from a top carnivore and being able to consume plant and fruits are just survival adaptations. It makes sense given my experience today, that people really like animal foods… people love animal food… people crave animal food… but how much do they crave it really?

There are zero carb forums that promote eating just animal food, some of it cooked and lightly cooked. I’m not getting into the cooked animal food scenario, I’ve proven that was not good for myself last year.

I’m going with the top, the best meat in my arsenal, raw beef from Farmers Market in Cubao Quezon City. I can get freshly killed beef every other day for best results. I’ll get the best muscle parts, raw liver and raw bone marrow… only the best. I foresee a 1 to 2 week experiment on this.

My only hang-up is structured water. I am absolutely convinced that faucet water, distilled water and reverse osmosis water from water stores and bottle waters are absolutely no good. Water must be alive and structured well like freshly melted snow or a sparkling fresh mountain spring water. Since I have no access to these waters, I will just squeeze some 3 or 4 calamansi in chilled reverse osmosis store bought water… maybe it will give it some structure.

I’m all psyched up for this experiment and this will probably begin in less than a week. Wish me luck. I will report the results of my experiment and post a journal of sorts.

Cory Quirino says COOKED High Fat Diet can cause impotence

July 7, 2009 by Good Samaritan

A health and lifestyle writer named Cory Quirino in the Inquirer wrote a piece entitled: ” High Fat Diet can Cause Impotence”.  Catchy headline.  First of all let me qualify and clarify her title and assumptions… Cory Quirino assumes a COOKED High Fat Diet can cause impotence.  There a wide chasm of a difference between RAW HIGH FAT and COOKED HIGH FAT.  RAW HIGH FAT diets will result in pure and good blood cholesterol.   Cooked High Fat may result in corrupted blood cholesterol.

This is what Cory says in her article:

“Studies have shown that men aged 25-83 whose cholesterol levels are higher than 240 mg/dl are twice as likely to have trouble achieving or maintaining an erection than men with cholesterol levels below 180 mg/dl.”

and

“A [COOKED] high-fat diet of saturated fats/animal meats narrows arteries and blocks blood flow to your heart. These are the same arteries that carry blood to the penis. Note: Blood has to reach the penis for an erection to take place.”

I have to clarify this to stop the public from being FAT PHOBIC. The cooked food culture has thrown the public into being fat phobic resulting in so much disease and misery. The fat phobic common Filipino avoids all the fats they can easily identify with and then wind up eating THE WORST FATS every concocted in human history. What WORST FATS am I talking about?

“Vegetable” Cooking Oils advertised as “cholesterol free” – Frying is the favorite cooking method. The worst.

French Fries are the number one selling items in those hamburger chains. Frying potato starch in cooking oil has got to be the most toxic combination as described by the great healer Dr. Henry Bieler.

Chicharon – Fried Pig skin / fat and intestines is an all time favorite when the fat deprived Filipino finally cannot hold himself any longer.

Ice Cream – a mainstay in children’s parties, a corrupted concoction of pasteurized milk fats and more.

Margarine sold as cholesterol free. Sold as a “better butter” than REAL BUTTER… is actually a toxic and terrible fat substitute that can and does worse damage because it is unnatural fat.

Wake up. Humans are fat seeking creatures. We need fat. The food pyramid is wrong. The anti-fat hysteria is a crying out shame full of half truths and dis-information. True, cooked natural fats may be bad for your health… the solution is to eat NATURAL FATS IN ITS NATURAL FORM… RAW!!!!!!!!!!

You got that right. I eat my natural fats RAW:

Raw coconut meat.
Raw avocados.
Raw fertilized organic eggs.
Raw fish fat in wild ocean fish like raw tuna.
Raw grass fed butter.
Raw grass fed beef muscle.
Raw grass fed beef brain.
Raw grass fed beef bone marrow / “bulalo.”

A RAW HIGH FAT diet is healing, slimming, lubricating, refreshing, thirst quenching… and will give you a healthy sex drive. You have got to experience it to believe it. For guidelines on how to eat a raw high fat diet, visit http://www.rawpaleoforum.com and learn from the healthy practitioners who have rediscovered the original healthy human diet.

Merely Detoxing With No Change in Diet Will only take you so far

July 6, 2009 by Good Samaritan

Lately I’ve been bumping onto friends and relatives who have been awakened to detox protocols as I state them at http://www.curemanual.com/detox-protocols. Bravo to them, they have matters in their own personal control. What bothers me is they it seems some of them are stuck with just the detox protocols and zero change in diet. I dare say diet is more than 50% of the cure.

Having Dr. Tam’s Miracle Tea as a stand by colon cleanser is a “Godsend” for many. They just increased their price from 1,500 pesos to 1,700 pesos per liter. Sometimes I think it is good that this herbal colon cleanser is expensive, that way, people do not abuse it. I have seen hard headed folks keep eating that constipating wheat / flour in all its harmful incarnations like pandesal, white bread, noodles, macaroni, pasta, pancit, cakes, crackers, biscuits. Then they become constipated and ask for the Miracle Tea… sure it works, but don’t you feel like a yoyo?

Then there’s the liver flushing society… great way to cleanse your liver, gallbladder of stones and muck. But if you keep drinking alcohol, keep eating fully cooked animal food… and I don’t care if it is fish or eggs or red meat… you fully cook it, it does not nourish your liver. Cooked animal food eating is a bad habit. Yes, humans need animal fat and animal protein… in its raw form! Then you wonder why stones keep forming. I put a stop to my liver flushing by switching to raw animal food.

And how about those chiropractor addicts? Do you really need to visit your chiropractor monthly? Do you really need to get a full body massage 3x a week? There must be something wrong somewhere else, right? Sure, you can afford this kind of treatment, but it sounds excessive to me. If you fixed your diet, you wouldn’t need so much of this.

Just because the detox protocols work does not mean you have to be dependent on them for the rest of your life. If you fixed your diet and bombarded yourself with the correct nutrition, then your body would be in automatic self cleansing and you wouldn’t need to rely on these detox protocols so much.

The ultimate diet I’m talking about is a Raw Paleolithic Diet with its many variations depending on what you have in your locale and your present state of health.  Raw organic fruit, raw organic vegetables, raw grass fed fatty red meat and other raw organic / wild animal foods.  Raw animal food are super foods… they lose their super status and may become harmful when cooked depending on your cooking style.

I experiment with raw carabao milk + raw duck egg for digestion strengthening

June 28, 2009 by Good Samaritan

I’m trying to cure my children of tooth decay. In the cure tooth decay book of Rami Nagel he suggested a lot of raw dairy. He acknowledges the problems some people have with digesting dairy. I’ve had that problem for the longest time when experimenting with raw dairy, any dairy whether cow, carabao or goat. He suggested mixing 1 cup of raw dairy with 2 raw eggs.

I did my experiment beginning yesterday and today with raw carabao milk.. because that is what is available. And with duck eggs… because that is what is available. Since duck eggs are larger and richer than chicken eggs, I decided to do just 1 duck egg in the raw dairy.

What do you know. It seems to be working. I’m not farting terribly. I did notice some farting…. but not the awful farts and gas pains I used to have with just plain raw dairy. Will experiment some more.

Hey, maybe it really will help with digestion strengthening, who knows. Let’s see.

Results of experiment: Yesterday Sunday I started farting again. I was in the toilet many times with cramps. The coup de grace came while I was snacking with my 2 boys and they told me flat out to stop drinking raw milk because my fart stinks again. They know. So there you have it, this nth experiment with raw milk shows raw milk is not for me. I can’t digest it, my body has to resort to bad bacteria to get rid of it.

Book Review: Death to Diabetes – The 6 Stages of Type 2 Diabetes Control & Reversal

June 26, 2009 by Good Samaritan

The book Death to Diabetes takes you full circle, DeWayne McCulley covers just about every topic you will need to know about regarding your diabetes journey and recovery. His advice is sound, and his super meals are key to getting your diabetes under control.

Being the family healer is a big responsibility. I have to come up with effective and lasting solutions for people’s health problems. Diabetes type 2 is something easily overcome with the correct mindset, the correct attitude, correct lifestyle change; and this is precisely the problem with diabetics, they have this closed mindset that they will be forever taking an escalating amount of drugs, continue eating the standard american diet and commercialized lifestyle, progressively get sicker as they age… simply because they have been branded as a diabetic and expect to be diabetic all their life.

Death to Diabetes opens the diabetic mind and takes you full circle, author DeWayne McCulley covers just about every topic you will need to know about regarding your diabetes journey and recovery. His advice is sound, and his super meals are key to getting your diabetes under control.

Author DeWayne McCulley is an ex-diabetic engineer who survived a near death, diabetic coma with a blood glucose level of 1,337 — more than a thousand points above normal. Despite two blood clots, pneumonia, high cholesterol, and four insulin shots a day, DeWayne was able to use his engineering and biochemistry background to methodically wean himself off the insulin, and other drugs. He lowered his average glucose level to less than 95 and his hemoglobin AIC below 5%, while losing 50 pounds and reversing his diabetes within 4 months. He credits his recovery to God, his doctors and nurses, his mother, his daughter, a set of accidents (blessings), and his underlying thirst for knowledge. With a lot of encouragement from his daughter, his mother, and people from work, the local churches, the wellness industry, and the two diabetic support groups he was facilitating, DeWayne decided to write this book that explains his experience, the real root casues of diabetes, and how to beat this disease and its complications. His hope is that this book will inspire you the way he was inspired — by people he never would have met if it weren’t for his experience with diabetes.

In some countries the word “cure” is illegal to use, DeWayne resorts to the title “Death to Diabetes” and talks about diabetes “wellness” and “reversal”. This book is a large of component of the cure for most Type 2 diabetes cases.

I like the charts, I like the methodologies, this is an absolute beginner’s book to cures. Written for the usual joe who has never ever been exposed to cures. The diets are transitional, people are used to these kinds of complicated ways of eating and DeWayne teaches them how to do it right. The book can be used as a general wellness guide for any health problem that can be addressed via diet and some detoxes.

Diabetics will love the chapters on how to wean yourself away from drugs until you totally get rid of all drugs. No drugs, for the rest of your life.

This book is empowering, very thorough and well-written. This book is the one every diabetic should read.

Rational for various Paleo approaches

June 20, 2009 by Good Samaritan

Interesting topic raised by SkinnyDevil in the Raw Paleo Forum: I see on this forum a wide variety of paleo approaches and in my short time here have already seen hot debate of certain key issues. Zero or low carb, or not low carb. Fatty meats or lean meats. No dairy or minimal sporadic dairy (or lots of dairy). Paleo man ate mostly meat or he didn’t (ate meat sporadically – only at successful kills). Organ or no organ meats. Without trying to kick off an argument, I’m just wondering the rational for each of these approaches – NOT from a web-site, but from people who actually eat that way. Also wondering about other lifestyle factors, and if you only eat paleo or if you try to implement (to grater or lesser degrees) other paleo lifestyle factors?

Cosmo Replied:

Hi there!
I think it all depends on your blood type. For example, my blood group is 0 (1) and I avoid dairy products and prefer fattier meats, organs and raw fish.
If your blood group is A(2), then you should stick to raw fish, egg yolks, raw animal fat, organs and very little meat.
But if your blood group is B(3), then you can eat pretty much anything including raw dairy.
There’s a great book about it called “Eat right for your type”, it was’t written for raw eaters, but I found it to be a very helpful.

and Raw Rob replied:

I am zero carb because if I eat carbs my Ulcerative Colitis will come back.

I’m not completely against carbs for other people though. I just don’t get into it because none of us really know what goes on inside our bodies.

Perhaps I did so much damage to my system in my “SAD” days that I for one, cannot eat carbs anymore.

I used to eat giant bowls of whole grain pasta, two or three times a day, with a peanut, pesto, or tomato sauce all over it. I used to put tons of cayenne pepper in my food as well. I ate a lot protein bars and shakes, and went through gallons of milk every week.

I was an exercise and eating machine. I lifted a lot of weights and ran up to 8 miles a day sometimes. When Ulcerative Colitis hit me, it took me months to figure out how to eat again, and it lead me to just meat , fat, and organs. (Only grass-fed) I also eat sashimi, or very rare steaks in social settings. I drink dry wines or vodka on occasion as well. (I live in Chicago, hard to get away from that here.)

I’m gradually getting back to doing more physically intense exercises. Although, I’m never going back to long distance running. I don’t think that’s really good for you.

I used to have achy joints as well. I’m suspicious that that might have been due to all the nightshade family foods I was eating. (tomatoes, cayenne, jalapenos, etc.)

Anyway, that’s my little zero carb argument for myself.

and I replied:

A good number of us were truly sick on SAD so we had to find what works.
There is some grain of truth in blood type diet. My 5 year old boy is allergic to all chicken whether raw or not or raw fertilized eggs… so we do duck instead.
I believe a big factor is we are all at different stages of health in our lives.
We do what works for us in that snapshot of time with what is available in our locale and what we can afford.

I used to be sick of eczema and the detoxes fixed the symptoms, but I did not feel glowing health.
I tried various diets from sad, vegetarian, raw vegan, raw fruitarian, then 14 days fasting.
I arrived at raw paleo because I wanted to achieve better health…
and wai diet worked wonders… raw fish is good.
adding raw land animals did even more wonders…
grass fed raw beef specifically did wonders (internal organs, meat, fat, brains, marrow, tongue) absolutely delicious.
High fat low carb did even more wonders. (I’m here now, 1.5 years into raw paleo)

I’m a self experimentor and I will get to try zero carb later on.

I tried Aajonus’ Primal diet with raw dairy several times with different animals like cow, carabao, goat… but none of them were working for me, the only thing I don’t react to in dairy is butter and ghee, but my sources are not raw.

Duck eggs are sooo much better than chicken eggs.

I will make continuous adjustments in my diet as the years goes by.

and Tyler replied:

The fatty meat/lean-meat question is more difficult to answer than one would think. Judging from data gathered re hunter-gatherers and palaeo cavemen, a very wide variety of animals were hunted some small(and therefore lean) and other larger, fattier animals like the aurochs(ancestors of cattle) and horses. Then there’s the fact that winter forces animals to starve and thereby reduce their fat-layers during that season. Now, there are other complications(I believe older animals gain more fat-layers?) but generally speaking, I don’t think it matters as long as one is eating a mixture of lean and fatty meats – eating 100% lean meats all the time year round is likely a bad idea, especially if on zc.

No dairy or minimal dairy:- I have been beating the anti-raw-dairy drum for years as I kept on noticing that those people who consumed the most dairy also reported the most devastating of health-problerms(which they chose to call “detoxes” but weren’t as they invariably coincided with dairy-consumption) – and that those who gave up all dairy reported far fewer side-effects, if any. Dairy has appalling side-effects re f**king up the natural hormone-levels of the body via its own cow-produced hormones, then there are the addictive opioids, the huge imbalance in calcium to magnesium( too much intake of calcium into the body blocks uptake of magnesium , leading to magnesium-deficiency).Magnesium is essential for the central nervous system’s maintenance.

Organ-meats:- If you look at the literature(and wildlife movies etc.), you will notice a common element:- the wild animals generally go for the organ-meats first by preference and then eat the rest. If they’re not hungry, they’ll sometimes leave some of the muscle-meats behind, storing them for later, but eat the organ-meats then and there.More modern hunter-gatherer tribes have the same preference re organ-meats, with pregnant women using them(according to weston-price) to ensure fertility/childbirth works out well for them. So there’s no reason to suppose organ-meats weren’t eaten and preferred by palaeoman .Plus, numerous anecdotal reports on the various forums indicate tha eating raw organ-meats as well as muscle-meats ensures a faster recovery-rate on a RVAF diet than if one just eats raw muscle-meats.

That said, some zcers do have a point in claiming that organ-meats are only 10% of all meats in a body so there’s no need to overindulge.

Re eating all-meat or no-meat:- Well, my own experience with zc was a disaster. Tried 3 times and failed miserably. By the 6th week I’d be a hospital case so had to give up(I did all the right things re eating plenty of raw fat etc. – my testimonial is on the rawpaleodiet.com website)Having checked various studies and experiences:(eg:-
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12535749

I tend to be sceptical of the notion that zc works for some, though it’s pretty clear that others seem to be doing fine right now on rzc. Other than the health-issues, my sporting performance collapses while on rzc, so that’s a big minus. Plus, being able to eat raw fruit in social settings makes things so much easier for me as that is considered more socially acceptable than eating raw meat in front of SAD-eaters. As a ZCer, given occasional travelling etc., I’d be forced to make pemmican, instead of eating fruit (when grassfed, raw meat-sources are scarce), which would cause problems for me given my own major issues re cooked animal fats(raw fruit, by contrast, works fine for me as long as I don’t take it to fruitarian levels).

Re palaeo lifestyle:- I’m not terribly interested in sleeping outdoors on the hard ground etc. I’m too urbanised. But, admittedly, it does have its appeal.

Tried Cooked pork lechon and I felt terrible afterwards

June 16, 2009 by Good Samaritan

I was out last night after a client meeting. It was late at night I passed by the Paranaque fish port to get some fish. Then passed by the Baclaran Sea Side market to see what was there. Then I saw a lechon restaurant with a lot of good pieces left. I thought that I had not tasted lechon pork for a long time, I wondered what it would be like to eat some cooked meat again… tried it and I didn’t like it.

So I got 1/4 kilo of the cooked pork lechon. Very fatty and with skin and with the liver sauce. I did not feel right outright afterwards. In the morning, my stomach was still messed up. My poop suddenly turned diarrhea like… my innards were grumbling. Oh my. I had truly adjusted to a raw paleo eating for a good time, my body did not like that cooked meat at all. I didn’t find any satisfaction in eating it, it was just a curiosity experiment.

So lately I do not like eating cooked meat at all. It’s like a sacrifice for me to eat cooked meat. I mean, my body is looking for, craving for health. Give me raw blood and I’ll drink it. Give me, give me raw meat, please. But cooked meat? I’ll pass.

This evening we are having raw tuna for dinner. Bought the kids some nori sea weed so they find rolling their own sushi fun. I also got the kids some fresh durian for snacks, oh, they will be so happy today.
