Chlorella and Spirulina combo constipates me and my brother

My brother was recently hospitalized due to shortness of breath, with a slight fever, due to extreme constipation caused by taking chlorella and spirulina combination as described in www.chlorellafactor.com

Was it the brand? He used Solgar for the chlorella and the Healthy Options brand for the spirullina. Initially taking some 2.5 grams of chlorella and 5.0 grams of spirulina per day.

It was my turn to test this theory on myself. I took the same dosages but used Solgar brand of spirulina. I took the same quantities per day. And I found myself constantly constipated! How can this be? I pride myself in dumping at least 1 per day due to my improved eating of fresh vegetables daily.

I tried improving my situation by taking 2 tablespoons of virgin coconut oil to help my bowels move. No avail. I experienced bowel movement intervals of 2 to 3 days. Very bad. To the point that I experienced a slight fever and flu like symptoms with headache. Darn. Obvious toxin build up and this is my third day!

Drastic measures, I had to hydrate myself and bought 2 bottles of Gatorade and gulped them straight down. I then took 4 tablespoons of virgin coconut oil. I drank hot green tea to get my bowels moving. It has to move tonight! Before I sleep!

I got a fair sized bowel movement. I know there is more stuck in my gut. But it will have to do for now. Immediately my headache stopped, my fever is down, and I’m here typing to report to you my experience.

I’m not taking that chlorella and spirulina combination again. It may have worked for Mike Adams, but it sure constipated me and my brother.

    Hello,

Do you think is possible that you should have worked up to that dosage. I have read places that chlorella and spirulina higher doses should be worked up too.

I have recently started taking natures way brand. Spriulina 760mg serving size 2 caps. And chlorella 1.23g – serving size 3 caps.

I’ll let you know how it goes.

I have been having the same issue, only I’m not sure which is the culprit…I am taking a suppliment with chlorella, but have been doing a teaspoon of spirulina on the side. Intuition makes me suspect spirulina, since the movements I do have are on the “greenish” side. I’ve been drinking tons of laxative tea, slamming back the psyllium, but am still pretty “backed up” And I only have been taking spirulina for 3 days…yeesh!! Hopefully this stuff will be out of my system soon!

Not all spirulina are the same at least when it is marketed under a certain brand. For instance, i read the label of Dynapharm spirulina it said 300mg x 1000(300 mg /tablet and 1000 tablets in 1 bottle), but further examination reveals that it is actually only 200mg of spirulina in 1 tablet, that means, there is an additional 100mg of something( i don’t know) you can read it on the back of the label and maybe that additional ingredient has side effect, such as constipation, etc. chect it thoroughly first before using. there is this guy i know that sells 100% pure spirulina his #09189221705. i’m still buying from him up to now for almost 5 years.i’m feeling better everyday by taking spirulina.

I have the same problem. I only take chlorella and I’m backed up badly. When I do have a bowel movement, it’s very tiny, dark and hard. It’s not for a lack of fiber since mostly I’m putting the chlorella in a fruit smoothie.
