Currently Evacuating Marikina for Higher Ground Due to Typhoon Basyang

First Typhoon to hit Marikina after last year’s Ondoy.  It is signal #1 in Rizal Province of which Marikina is part of and the new school Manila Waldorf in San Mateo Rizal is also under signal #1.  So that means no school.  And this is our cue to evacuate Marikina for higher ground.

I woke up around 5 am and checked www.pagasa.dost.gov.ph and saw that typhoon Basyang has changed course from what was expected to go up to Isabela, went down and will be directly hitting us in Rizal.

So we have packed up our important stuff. My wife’s harps in the car, my home computer server brought up to the 2nd floor, and we and the children have packed up some clothes and food to go to my my in laws’ condo in Makati.

Hopefully just overnight. Just not taking any bad chances. Better safe than sorry.

For those of you who don’t remember, we were ground zero last year with typhoon Ondoy.

Update July 14 Wed 1:54 am.

We are in The Fort in the condo 8 floors up.
Now we are in the eye of the storm.
    Power is down, black out.
    Building generators are noisy.
Wind is whistling loudly outside between the buildings.

Not much rain, just wind. Good. Should be no flood then.
