Lesson Learned, Keep an Open Mind, Hacker helps me with DDos, Same thing with health!

Past week or more I’ve been having a rough time with a customer’s websites and the large collateral damage that happened. DDos happening to two of his websites at the same time, plus his shared hosting plan got cancelled by the data center due to being compromised and made an attack site by inserting malicious .htaccess files in his directories.

The big deal were the DDos attacks and I was busy moving his servers around to ever more expensive anti-ddos hosting providers and even thinking of expensive proxy server rentals to filter his visitors. I said to my client, we needed help, this is not within my experience.

So we did get help from a hacker guy he trusts and he said my solution was as simple as closing everything in the firewall save for the port 80 to serve web pages. And of course add evasive maneuvers in the web server. He helped me do the adjustments on the dedicated server and the virtual machine and ta da… easily resistant to DDos. Only possible way in is a DDos attack on port 80. But that is covered by the firewall appliance we just got today too. So all is well now. It was simpler and cheaper than I thought. And it works like a charm.

Which brings me to the issue of health and diseases. Your illnesses are blown out of proportion by those in the “medical” profession because they want your money. You are their asset, an ATM machine. The true expert simple solution is to just eat a raw paleo diet and detoxify at the same time. You see, I trump the docs on this note because I know the simple truth about how health is done.

Which came to the issue with this hacker friend who knew the easy and simple solution to DDos attacks. It does not have to take thousands of dollars every month to defend your website against attacks. The ones in the industry offering mega bucks for the anti-ddos protection racket are of course interested in the money, in the business. They aren’t going to tell you what this hacker just taught me… it would ruin their business.

Do you see the parallel of what I just learned? The beautiful simple truths in life are cheap.

If I were stubborn, pride full, I would have dismissed the new hacker guy. And I would have learned nothing. And probably asked my customer to spend a fortune. Then I would have lost the customer. So keep an open mind, you think you are an expert? You can’t know everything. No one does. I learned a lot because I kept an open mind and actually learned and understood what this new guy hacker was talking about.
