Aircon Filter Product Review: Filtrete by 3M
I know I’ve been seeing these 3M Filtrete aircon filters in the hardware stores for quite some time, but it was only last year when I was forced to buy one of these to try out. Our indoor air got really bad. We try tried to trace the problem and it seems the old flood that submerged our house in 2009 had stuffed mud and dirt in the less than 6 inch gap of our ceiling and our roof.
It was quite a rush thing when we realized the gravity of the situation as everyone in the house was getting sick. Including me. And I’m a raw paleo dieter. Which meant that the problem had to be an environmental thing. And it was the bad air.
I initially bought one of those big bulky dedicated air filters. Expensive, it works, but to replace that big bad disposable filter turned out to be a racket. Too pricey to maintain.
At the same time we were operating the air conditioner with the 3M Filtrete aircon filter. So yes, the indoor air was now much better. These filters work. I gave up on the big bulky expensive dedicated air filter and now just rely on the 3M Filtrete aircon filter.
The trick to keeping our indoor air clean is to always use the indicator filter, or manually check the filter if it is black and over stuffed. Do not wait for the air to feel bad again. Just replace the filter immediately. It’s so easy.
How I fasten the 3M Filtrete aircon filter: I used to tape it at all sides. Now I just learned to just pin it. So much faster, less hassle. So just pin it okay?
Remember to follow instructions, Cover only 3/4 of the aircon filter with the filtrete.
I swear you’ll have better sleep and better respiratory health. I live in a dirty metropolis in a valley, so maybe we should think about moving to some place cleaner.
Maybe in a few months have saved up to do some house repairs.
But until then, the 3M Filtrete aircon filter will be there to clean our indoor air.
